Fave Five: The Best Of Kiehl’s

best Kiehl's skincare products

I love visiting Kiehl’s stores.

They’re set up like old apothecaries. Shelves stacked high with products. Skeletons dressed in white coats greet you from the corners. Vials and pipettes lay down on tables. It feels like stepping back in time.

But, I rarely buy something there. Kiehl’s products are just… meh. Let’s say that despite their apothecary, scientific image, they haven’t kept up with the latest skincare technologies. A lot of their products are pretty basic.

Although… sometimes, that’s just what your skin needs. So, on my last trip to Kiehl’s, I scoured the shelves for as many gems as I could find. Here are, imo, the best Kiehl’s products:

Ultra Facial Cleanser For All Skin Types ($19.50)

There’s not much to say about cleansers, is there? Kiehl’s Facial Cleanser For All Skin Types is a foaming formula, so more suitable for oily/combo skin but anyone can use it. It uses surfactants, like sodium laureth sulfate, to remove every last trace of dirt and makeup from your face gently and quickly. Best of all, it’s fragrance-free.

Skin Rescuer ($40.00)

Does your skin need to be rescued from dryness? If so, Kielh’s Skin Rescue is well worth a try. The simple formula is loaded with shea butter, glycerin and ceramides to repair and strengthen your skin protective barrier. Once that’s intact again, there’s no way water can still escape out of your skin. It’ll be trapped inside, moisturising your skin from within. FYI, it contains fragrance so may not be suitable for sensitive skin.

Powerful Strength Line Reducing Concentrate ($60.00)

Kiehl’s Powerful Strength Line Reducing Concentrate is a simple, fragrance-free vitamin C serum. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that fights free radicals, boosts collagen production and brightens the complexion. It works better when used with its antioxidant friends vitamin E and ferulic acid but if you’re looking for a frills-free serum and those are already a part of your skincare routine, this is worth checking out.

Clearly Corrective Dark Circle Perfector Broad Spectrum SPF 30 ($38.00)

Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Dark Circle Perfector Broad Spectrum SPF 30 is NOT an eye cream. It’s NOT a sunscreen. It’s NOT even a concealer. So, what the heck is it? An aesthetic treatment against dark circles. Its sheer, semi-matte finish brightens the eye area and provides a little coverage to hide dark circles. You’ll still need a concealer so I recommend it to those who either have very light dark circles that don’t need much coverage at all or those who have severe dark circles and find concealer alone isn’t enough. My fave thing about it is that it has just enough vitamin C to brighten discolourations and fight dark circles. One more thing: the only UV filter here is titanium dioxide. It doesn’t offer broad-spectrum protection on its own so pile on your sunscreen afterwards.

Available at: Debenhams and Feel Unique

Creme De Corps Smoothing Oil-To-Foam Body Cleanser ($12.50)

Who said that oil cleansers are just for your face? Kiehl’s Creme De Corps Smoothing Oil-To-Foam Body Cleanser is a sleek oil that transforms into a foamy cleanser when it comes in contact with water. The gentle mix of natural oils and surfactants easily removes grime and sunscreen from your body, leaving your skin clean and soft.
