Fave Five: The Best Dermalogica Products

the best dermalogica products

Dermalogica. With a name like that, you must be serious about dermatology and skincare, right?

Dermalogica sure has an outstanding reputation for getting the job done. But, a lot of it may be down to marketing. Because, most of their products aren’t as good they’re made out to be…

But, let’s leave those aside and focus on the good ones instead. Here are the best Dermalogica products:

Best For Anti-Aging: Dermalogica Overnight Retinol Face Cream ($90.00/£80.00)

When it comes to fighting wrinkles, retinol is the real deal. This form of Vitamin A destroys free radicals, boosts collagen production, and speeds up cellular turnover (the skin’s natural exfoliating process) to make skin brighter, softer, and younger-looking. Dermalogica Overnight Retinol Face Cream contains 0.5% microencapsulated retinol – a does for intermediate users. Microencapsulation means retinol is delivered onto your skin over a period of several hours instead than all at once, making it way gentler on the skin. Squalane and ceramides provide a moisturising base that help your skin better tolerate the drying effects of retinol. If you’re ready to use a mid-strength retinoid product, this is definitely worth a try.

Best For Dry Skin: Dermalogica Intensive Moisture Balance ($69.00/£68.00)

Dermalogica Intensive Moisture Balance is a moisturiser full of antioxidants, such as vitamins A and C, that help keep wrinkles away from your face that little bit longer. Like the name implies, it’s also fairly hydrating. Dermalogica swears it moisturises 10 layers deep! I’m not sure about that, but it’ll definitely keep your dry skin happy for hours. Plus, there’s no fragrance. In other words, it’s just what dry skin needs.

Best For The Eye Area: Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Firm ($65.00/£47.50)

Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Firm is a little gem designed for those little wrinkles around your eyes and mouth. It’s full of vitamins, including A, C, and E, and plenty of other antioxidants that fight free radicals, helping these delicate areas age better. Of course, this vitamin cocktail won’t firm your skin overnight (don’t believe everything a brand says!), but it’ll make your wrinkles softer and smoother.

Best For Dehydrated Skin: Dermalogica Skin Hydrating Masque ($42.00/£30.00)

If your skin’s looking for some moisture, it’ll find plenty in Dermalogica Skin Hydrating Masque. Suffice it to say it contains sodium hyaluronate, a moisture magnet that can attract, and bind to the skin, up to 1000 times its weight in water! It also has other stuff, like glycerin and butylene glycol, that does the same thing, but on a much lower scale. And plenty of antioxidants. No wonder it leaves skin so soft, smooth, and glowy!

Best For Sensitive Skin: Dermalogica Barrier Defense Booster ($75.00/£67.00)

Is your skin always tight and dry? Does it get red and irritated easily? Does it feel like it never gets enough moisture, no matter what you do? If you answered yes, Dermalogica Barrier Defense Booster is the answer to all your skin woes. This deeply moisturising booster is loaded with oils that repair your skin’s protective barrier, keeping it softer and healthier. Plus, it keeps germs, pollutants, and other nasties out. Without their constant attacks, your skin repairs faster.

I love their pre cleanse oil and The moisturizer you talk about in this article, but I think their wow product is their antioxidant hydramist. Would you talk about that product? I use it as a toner but it feels very hydrating to my very dry skin face

Glo, I’m not a big fan just because it has too many citrus extracts.

Hi Gio, I’ve just used a sample of Dermalogica’s overnight repair serum. I was wondering what you think of this product? Is there a similar product you would recommend? Thanks

Bree, I personally don’t like it because it has too many essential oils. You’re better off using just one single oil, like rosehip.
