What are the best REN skincare products?
I get this question a lot. REN has built a reputation for clean, natural skincare that delivers results without irritating even the most sensitive of skin types.
It’s mostly hype.
There, I said it. I’m not a big fan of REN. For a brand that claims to be friendly to sensitive skin, they love to pack their serums and moisturisers with all kinds of citrus extracts and fragrances that can make skin scream in pain. Ouch!
But some products are better than other. If you want to give REN a try, here are the best skincare products (read: low on fragrance) they offer:
- Best Cleanser: REN Rosa Centifolia Express Makeup Remover (£19.99)
- Best For Antiaging: REN Bio Retinoid Anti-Wrinkle Concentrate Oil ($69.00/£47.00)
- Best For Hydration: REN Keep Young And Beautiful Instant Firming Beauty Shot ($62.00/£42.00)
- Best For Sun Protection: REN Clean Screen Mineral SPF 30 ($36.00/£32.00)
- Best For Soothing Skin: REN Evercalm Comforting Rescue Mask ($48.00/£34.00)
Best Cleanser: REN Rosa Centifolia Express Makeup Remover (£19.99)
Looking for a makeup remover you can use all over the face, eyes and lips included? REN Rosa Centifolia Express Makeup Remover fits the bill. Harnessing the cleansing power of coconut oil, the milky texture removes all traces of dirt and waterproof makeup without drying out or irritating skin (unless you’re allergic to the rose scent, that is).

Best For Antiaging: REN Bio Retinoid Anti-Wrinkle Concentrate Oil ($69.00/£47.00)
Bio Retinoid is a made-up name for bakuchiol, a natural extract touted to be as powerful as retinol – but without the drying side effects. Like retinol, bakuchiol can smooth out skin, reduce wrinkles surface area, and fade away hyperpigmentation. BUT, there’s no proof it’s more effective than retinol yet. Personally, I recommend it only to people who can’t use retinoids, like pregnant women and anyone with sensitive skin. The rest of REN Bio Retinoid Anti-Wrinkle Concentrate Oil is mostly made up of moisturising oils that strengthen the skin’s protective barrier and make skin softer and smoother.

Best For Hydration: REN Keep Young And Beautiful Instant Firming Beauty Shot ($62.00/£42.00)
First thing first: anything that promises to firm your skin instantly is a scam. Skincare products can’t do that. So how did REN Keep Young And Beautiful Instant Firming Beauty Shot made this list? Fragrance side, this is a lovely hyaluronic acid serum that adds plenty of moisture back into your skin. Hyaluronic Acid is a moisture magnet that attracts and binds to the skin up to 1000 times its weight in water. All that moisture plumps up skin, makes it softer to the touch, and gives it a subtle glow. All things that can make it look younger in the short term.

Best For Sun Protection: REN Clean Screen Mineral SPF 30 ($36.00/£32.00)
REN Clean Screen Mineral SPF 30 is a mineral sunscreen with 22% zinc oxide to provide broad spectrum protection even in the hottest weather. Its texture is surprisingly lightweight and dries to a matte finish that’s neither dull nor flat. But it does leave a white cast on darker skin tone, so use foundation afterwards to even everything out. Another perk? It has its fair share of antioxidants to boost the sun protection of the sunscreen and slow down premature aging. The only thing I don’t like is the fragrance. It can irritate sensitive skin.

Best For Soothing Skin: REN Evercalm Comforting Rescue Mask ($48.00/£34.00)
REN Evercalm Ultra Comforting Rescue Mask has a creamy, lightweight texture that instantly soothes dry and sensitive skin. Its high concentration of natural oils strengthens the skin’s protective barrier, helping to keep skin safe from harsh weather and any other irritant it comes in contact with. Plus, it has probiotics that calm down irritations. The only miss-step is the fragrance. It’s one of the most irritating ingredients in cosmetics, so I’m not sure why REN saw fit to add it to a mask for sensitive skin. But if that doesn’t bother your skin, no need to panic.
