Another Sunday, another round of random ramblings. Enjoy!

1. Glo Minerals Corrective Camouflage Kit: this kit contains four sheer shades to hide discolourations. Yellow covers mild redness, dark circles and spots; mint hides redness; lavender conceals a sallow complexion and dark circles on dark skintones; and the neutral shade neutralizes general imperfections.

2. Jane Taylor Amaris hat: a 1940’s felt perching hat with vintage felt detail and veiling. It’s also available in black, but I prefer it in this wine shade. It’s perfect for fall, isn’t it?

3. Temperley London Jamila Woven Panel Dress: I usually prefer more colourful clothes, but I love the silhouette and retro-style of this dress. It’s very glamourous, but in an understated way, don’t you think?

4. The Body Shop White Musk Smokey Rose Shower Gel: this shower gel has an intriguing floral oriental scent that features notes of musk, tobacco flower and black rose.

5. Clinique Chubby Treats: this cute set features two Chubby Sticks in Pudgy Peony (sheer fuchsia) and Voluptuous Violet (sheer plum lavender), which provide juicy colour, subtle shine and intense moisture.

What I’m Reading Now

moll flanders daniel defoe
Moll Flanders by Daniel Defoe
A fictional memoirs of the infamous Moll Flanders, a prostitute, thief and convict. Born in Newgate Prison, she’s brought up by a guardian and at her death, goes to live with a wealthy family, where she gets a taste of the genteel life. Seduced by the eldest son, she ends up marrying his brother and, when he dies, her career as a con-woman begins. Life in the 18th century was very hard, especially for a single woman, but yet it is hard to feel for Molly because, even when her circumstances improve and she could finally live honestly, she refuses to do so. The book is also hard to read for modern readers because of its convoluted and archaic writing style and lack of chapters. It’s just a very long, continuous narration. Overall, though, I enjoyed it. It gives us a good insight into the life of the poor people of the period and what they often had to resort to to survive. If you’re interested in reading it, it’s available for free at Project Gutenberg.

Sunday Survey, Vol.175

1. Did you dress up for Halloween?
Nope, I’ve never really liked dressing up, not even when I was a child. I’m weird, I know. We don’t usually celebrate Halloween here anyway, but this year I went to a Halloween party, so I donned a pair of pointed-tip boots. I thought it’d be fitting as they’re kinda witch-like, but then I remembered why I hadn’t worn them in ages. They killed my feet!

2. When you find a beauty product that works, do you stick with it?
When I find a HG skincare product, I stick with it. But I could never do that with makeup. I like to try new things all the time.

3. Has fall arrived in your neck of the woods?
Some days it looks like it. They’re rainy and cold and you’re preparing to say goodbye to the sun, but then you have a couple of spring days, warm and sunny. And then it’s rainy for a few days, and sunny for a few more… The weather’s gone crazy this year!

4. What do you enjoy more: doing your nails or your makeup?
My makeup, definitely! I hate painting my nails. It’s so boring waiting for nail polish to dry, even when you use a fast-drying top coat.

5. Do you like stiletto nails?
They scare me. They can do some serious damage!

Kiss & Make-up, Halloween isn’t a big thing here either. Only recently some clubs and small villages have started organizing Halloween themed nights. I went to one for the first time this year, but it was nothing special.

1. No it was a night in watching a movie with my daughter and yes, we did eat a little to much candies. I used to love to dress up but my girl is like you, she’s not that much into it either.
2. Skin care I rarely change but makeup, except for eyeliner, I love to play with too much so I change often.
3. It’s here allright! It’s actually starting to smell like winter! 🙁
4. Makeup!
5. I’m not a fan of the look and find them way too dangerous to consider for myself!

Icaria, I find it too risky to change a good skincare product that works well. But makeup is another thing entirely. It’s so much fun to try new things, isn’t it?

Marina, seems like fall has fully arrived anywhere but here. Shouldn’t be long till it reaches Italy too though.

Monica, that kit looks great, doesn’t it?

And I agree, nail polishes take too long to dry!

I love understated glamor! I love beauty that’s not in your face. :] I do love dramatic bold makeup and outfits but definitely not for every day!
Oh dear, I read in the NY Times this summer how ‘your lipstick is toxic’ or something dramatic saying how there is lead in some red lipsticks and ‘T_____T’ was my response.
1. No! :[ I was going to be a circus tightrope performer in a white mesh dress with black stripes around the bust and black rimmed layers on the flowy dress but the party got cancelled last minute! I am so bummed.
2. Only with skincare and occasionally a makeup item I use daily like brows or a clear mascara that holds my curl and conditions my lashes during the day yet keeps them soft and doesn’t flake off.
3. It sure has now! 😀 It hasn’t rained here yet though. It did sprinkle one night but that was all.
4. Makeup ALWAYS! Nails are fun do to but take so long to dry and are often times boring if I don’t have a ton of free time to do art on them.
5. -Looks up ‘stiletto nails’- OH NO! They look like Dracula nails or claws! EEKS I understand why you are scared of the because I am too.

Janessa, it’s a shame that journalists perpetuate those myths, isn’t it? They should research their articles better, but I guess the “lipsticks are safe” headline just wouldn’t attract as many readers. *sighs*

Oh no, what a bummer that it was cancelled at the last minute. I hate it when that happens. I hope you still had a fun night!
