Sunday Random Ramblings, Vol.79

by Gio

Hello everyone,

and welcome to another week of random ramblings. Enjoy, and don’t forget to share yours!

A gift from a friend

gift from Janessa

My good friend Janessa has sent me another package full of goodies from the US. She told me there was a sale at Sephora and asked me whether I would like something, and of course I said yes. But she ended up sending me so much more than just what I had asked. There are goodies from Dior, Illamasqua, Bobbi Brown, Cover Girl, Maybelline, Revlon, Physician’s Formula, as well as a couple of perfume samples. And the card she sent me is adorable. Cinderella is my favourite Disney movie, so I beamed with delight at the lovely card featuring this princess with her prince, and even more at reading the sweet message written inside. Thank you so much for everything Janessa! It’s very appreciated! And of course, reviews are coming soon!

What I’m Reading Now

arrigo petacco riservato per il duce
Riservato Per Il Duce by Arrigo Petacco. This book, which is way too short, is a compilation of documents, letters, notes, police reports, and any other paper that landed on Mussolini’s desk. As such it provides interesting insights into the fascist regime and the personal and political lives of its members. It covers their affairs and scandals, the medals and honours they undeservedly received, the relatives who asked for favours, the jealousies and rivalries between party members and lots more. I find it fascinating as it features lots of tidbits that usually aren’t included in biographies and essays that cover this period. I’m not sure if this book was ever translated into English (the title means Confidential For The Dux, by the way), but if it was, and you’re interested in learning more about fascism, I highly recommend it.

Sunday Survey, Vol.158

1. When was the last time you went to the cinema?
I think it was more than a year ago. My local cinema is very expensive and, honestly, no movies that really interested me enough to pay the price of the ticket came out lately.

2. How do you keep your makeup from melting in the summer?
Primers! I apply less makeup (with a more lightweight texture) over a primer, in summer. It works very well for me.

3. What lipbalm are you using at the moment?
Labello Sun Protect SPF 30.

4. Makeup at the beach: yay or nay?
Nay for me. I just don’t see the point of it really.

5. What do you think of Bloglovin?
I think it’s a great way to keep up with blogs, but I don’t use it because I don’t like the interface.

I didn’t get to tell you this in advance, but I just got back from a business trip to Europe! Your blog posts were a huge help, and I went to both Limoni and Kiko. I bought quite a few things at Kiko!

1. When was the last time you went to the cinema?
I went to see Les Miserables when it opened in Japan. It was the first time in a long while that I went to the movies with my parents, and we all loved the musical!

2. How do you keep your makeup from melting in the summer?
Ooooh, good question. I’ve never had any fool proof way.

3. What lipbalm are you using at the moment?
I typically use Vaseline petroleum jelly. Weird, probably, but it works best for me.

4. Makeup at the beach: yay or nay?
Nay. I also don’t see the point! I carry sunscreen, some kind of wipes, lip balm, and some eye drops when I go to the beach.

5. What do you think of Bloglovin?
I prefer Feedly since it is similar to GFC!

K, I hope you enjoyed your trip and I’m glad my blog helped you in doing some shopping. What did you get? And please, let me know how you like your goodies. Kiko is awesome, isn’t it?

I had forgotten about Les Miserables! That was one movie I wouldn’t have minded seeing at the cinema but I couldn’t find anyone to come with me. None of my friends like long musicals apparently. 🙁 I’m glad you and your family enjoyed it.

So many nice goodies!!! 🙂
1. Last movie was Iron Man 3 in May. My daughter & we loved it! 😀
2. When it’s super hot I don’t really bother, I usually only wear powder anyway.
3. Nuxe Rêve de Miel at night and Clarins Lip Perfector during the day.
4. Nay except for waterproof mascara.
5. I got used to Bloglovin and now I do like it. I enjoy the convenience of being able to see all the different blog posts at a glance and choosing the ones I want to read. Since I read/follow several, I find it saves time.

Icaria, Bloglovin is very convenient indeed. I use Feedly because it’s more similar to Google Reader, but Blogloving is a good alternative too, especially if you like its interface. Keeping up with blogs without one of these readers would be a nightmare!

1. When was the last time you went to the cinema? About 2 months ago.
2. How do you keep your makeup from melting in the summer? I apply as less makeup as I can, I actually wear makeup only when the occasion requires and even then I like to use a CC cream instead of foundation and I always have in my purse some oil remover foils.
3. What lipbalm are you using at the moment? One from Balea, cheap, efficient and with a pearl effect. I actually reviewed it on the blog a couple of weeks ago.
4. Makeup at the beach: yay or nay? Nay….I like to swim a lot, to play with my friends in the water so I don’t want to worry about my makeup even though many waterproof formulas say they are long lasting and smudge proof that’s not always true. I never wear makeup to the beach. I do use a lip balm or a gloss to hydrate my lips but nothing more.
5. What do you think of Bloglovin? I don’t use it. I already know by heart more than 50 blogs addresses and I like to visit them directly each day and I also use GMarks in my Firefox to bookmark some blogs that are difficult to remember because of their names.

Tavia, 50 blogs?! Wow, that’s impressive! I don’t think I could remember that many!

And it’s so difficult to find good waterproof products that won’t smudge! Much better not to wear anything if you like to swim a lot imo.

Marina, you’re lucky your makeup doesn’t melt in the summer.
