Sunday Random Ramblings, Vol.78

by Gio

Hello everyone,

it’s that time of the week again. Yep, time for some random ramblings:

Giveaway Reminder

5th anniversary giveaway

Beautiful With Brains turned 5 this month and to celebrate, I’m hosting a giveaway, so if you haven’t already, go and enter it now. You have only a few days left to do so. I’m having a pretty hectic start of the week workwise, so I don’t think I’ll be able to announce the winner tomorrow. For this reason, I’m extending the deadline and you now have till 2 July 2013 at 11:59 GMT to enter. The winner will be announced the next day. So, if you’d like a chance to win some new makeup from MAC, Kiko, Pupa, plus other bits and bobs, now’s the time to post your entry (a comment is all that’s required). And thank you to those who already have. Good luck everyone!

What I’m Reading Now

the letters of queen victoria vol 1
The Letters Of Queen Victoria (Vol. I of III). A collection of Queen’s Victoria correspondence between the years 1837-1843. To me, this is the most interesting of the 3 tomes that make up this trilogy (which, for some reason I can’t figure out, I left for last…) as it offers interesting insights into the time Queen Victoria came to the throne and how her relationship with Prince Albert was born and developed. But not all the letters are about her personal life. Most of them are about the political affairs of the time, giving us informative glimpses into the problems the country and government was facing, and what powers the several institutions of the United Kingdoms had. Although the book is very long (it does cover a big time frame, after all), it does flows easily and is very enthralling. I highly recommend it to everyone interested in Queen Victoria and the era she lived in.

Sunday Survey, Vol.157

1. Have you ever thought of writing a book?
Yep. I think most avid readers would love to write a book one day. The problem with me is that I have too many ideas and too little time to write. I can barely keep up with blogging these days!

2. Where’s the strangest place you’ve done your makeup?
I’ve never really applied my makeup in any weird places. Mmmm… Does retouching your lipgloss on a train count?

3. What’s on your toes right now?
Layla Ceramic Effect Nail Polish n.23, a beautiful reddish wine with purple undertones.

4. Would you rather have more money or more time?
Definitely more time. It flies by so quickly and once it’s gone, you can’t take it back, no matter what.

5. Do you like pleats?
I love pleated clothes. I think they are very elegant.

It’s your turn now:
1. Have you ever thought of writing a book?
2. Where’s the strangest place you’ve done your makeup?
3. What’s on your toes right now?

1. No, I know just enough about writing to know I’m no good at it. I write a lot for my own enjoyment, but I would never dream of getting any of it published, haha!
2. Probably on the metro; I was short on time. I don’t know if that’s strange enough, however, as I see quite a few women do the same!
3. Nothing! Bare footed and bare nailed. I’ve been completely neglecting all 20 of my nails this month
4. This is a hard one. I’d probably pick more money, whatever that implies …
5. I love pleats on others!! Somehow though, I feel that on myself, they do not suit me well.

Happy Sunday! 🙂

Julia, it’s just more convenient to apply makeup at home, isn’t it? Although when you’re in a rush, doing on public transportation works too. 🙂

Oh I like surveys 😀

1. Have you ever thought of writing a book? | Yes, but more in the sense of a collection of short stories, or column pieces.

2. Where’s the strangest place you’ve done your makeup? | Hmm, I don’t think I ever do my make-up anywhere other than at home or a bathroom 🙂

3. What’s on your toes right now? | Nothing, I like to not draw attention to my toes.

4. Would you rather have more money or more time? | Oh man, I really have to choose? More money then.

5. Do you like pleats? | Uhm, I guess I am neutral, I don’t love or hate them 🙂

Kiss & Make-up, I tend to do my makeup only at home too, or if I need to retouch something, I’ll look for a bathroom. I’m not comfortable applying makeup, other than gloss or lip balm, in public.

1. Have you ever thought of writing a book? Sometimes when I’m day dreaming I’m thinking how would it be to write an autobiographic book. Most people I met in my life told me I have a very interesting and unfamiliar life style, full of adrenaline, plots, action and unexpected decisions and I saw they were always listening carefully when I shared some episodes from my past. Some of my friends suggested that an auto biographic book would be quite interesting.
2. Where’s the strangest place you’ve done your makeup?
3. What’s on your toes right now? I just removed a pink neon China Glaze polish 2 days ago. 🙂
4. Would you rather have more money or more time? More money for me pls! I know I sound a bit materialistic but I’m one of those people that would prefer a short and intense life rather than a long and boring one. For me having to much time and not having the money to be able to spend a quality time it’s just …sad. Time can feel like a punishment some times….
5. Do you like pleats? I actually hate them…my mother used to dress me mostly in pleats skirts when I was little so I started to hating them when I grew up because I was so tired of wearing pleats all the time as a child. 😀

Tavia, you make a great point. Time is precious, but without money you can’t always enjoy it as you’d like.

And I’d love to read your autobiography! 😉

1. Have you ever thought of writing a book?
Yes. My dreams are usually really good horror/dystopian/sci-fi movies. I could probably collect them into a series of books…

2. Where’s the strangest place you’ve done your makeup?
I’m not sure. I usually don’t think about absurdity. I thrive on it.

3. What’s on your toes right now?
My feet?

4. Would you rather have more money or more time?
Money. I have plenty of time, but no resources.

5. Do you like pleats?
Depends on the clothes, but not usually on me. I’m already an overly pear-shaped person. Smooth lines that drape around the feet seem to work best. Think Morticia Addams. <3

BebeTaian, your dreams sounds very interesting! They would make great books, I’m sure. 🙂

1. Have you ever thought of writing a book? Not only have I thought of it, but I’ve actually done it. I have one completed that I’ve been sending to publishers and am working on others.

2. Where’s the strangest place you’ve done your makeup? In the car (as a passenger) while the car is moving.

3. What’s on your toes right now? I have a pink pedicure with some flowery nail stickers on the big toe nails.

4. Would you rather have more money or more time? Money. I have plenty of time. 🙂

5. Do you like pleats? Nooooo. Unless it’s a pleated skirt. Then that would be cute.

Trisha, good look with your book! I hope it’ll get published soon, and when that’ll happen, I’ll surely buy a copy. 🙂
