Neve Cosmetics Dessert A Levres: these sweet-scented lipsticks, which are available in 8 shades, have a creamy and moisturizing texture and buildable colour payoff. And don’t you just love the packaging? Delicious!

Tom Ford Sahara Noir: inspired by the Middle Eastern perfume tradition, this woody oriental perfume is based on frankincense, and features notes of bitter orange, cypress, calamus, cinnamon, papyrus extract, Egyptian jasmine templar and Moroccan rose absolute.

Alberta Ferretti Lace Dress: how beautiful is this papaya lace dress by Alberta Ferretti? It is lined with a sand silk slip, and features a contrasting orange hem and a ruffled neck. Fun and feminine.

The Balm Put A Lid On It: this quick-drying primer improves the pigmentation of your eyeshadows, makes them last longer and, thanks to its light reflective properties, brightens the lid. Plus, isn’t the packaging adorable?

Rouge Bunny Rouge Magnitude Mascara Ubiquitous: available in Almandine (brown) and Titian (black), the mascara coats your lashes with an intense and shiny pigment, while adding length, curl and definition to them.

Accessorize London Cluster Pendant: London is my favourite city in the world so of course I love this Big Ben and I Love London pendant, with has an extender chain and lobster clasp. It’s a great way to always take London with you, wherever you go.

What I’m Reading Now

the young lady's friend by a lady
The Young Lady’s Friend by A Lady (E.W. Ferrar). This little book, published in 1837, is a “manual of practical advice and instruction to young females on their entering upon the duties of life, after quitting school”. The manual covers a wide range of topics that could be useful to young women at the time, giving them advice on how to economize, how to make the most of their time, how to nurse the sick, how to dress, how to travel, how to behave with their siblings, gentlemen and servants and lots more. While some of the advice is obviously old-fashioned, some of it is still valid and useful today. I’ve found it a fascinating read and I’d definitely recommend it to those who like this sort of manuals.

Always use sunscreen. I wish I had started doing that a lot sooner!

I love both, but there’s no comparison, really. The Lord Of The Rings, hands down.

1. Have you ever walked out of a film?
Yeah, twice.
Rene Midis Holivudshi / Rene Goes To Hollywood – that one was really bad.
Another Sky / ДРУГОЕ НЕБО – this one was not bad per se, I was just not in the mood for something heartbreaking.

2. Best skincare advice you’ve been given?
“Stop picking at it!”
I should listen to it.

3. How did you sleep last night?

4. The Lord Of The Rings or Harry Potter?
I haven’t watched all the movies of either, but the parts I saw were well-made. LoTR has New Zealand 😉 .

As far as the books are concerned – Harry Potter, hands down.
LoTR (the books) are an epic fantasy classic, but they are so drawn out. They haven’t aged well.

5. Do you like striped clothing?
You can’t even imagine how much 😀 .
When I tell my mom I found a cute shirt, she asks: “Is it striped? Again?”

beautifulwithbrains May 19, 2013 - 9:34 pm

Ana, lol. You must have a huge collection of striped clothing. They’re really cute, aren’t they?

I love TLOTR books, but not so much the movies. When you see pieces of it, they seem wonderful (and to an extent they are), but they are sooo long and quite slow. The last one especially just never seemed to end. But then, the book is so long that making a great movie out of it is quite hard. I’m glad I saw them all once, but I won’t again lol.

1. Have you ever walked out of a film? I did a couple of times, and the rest of people were leaving too 🙂
2. Best skincare advice you’ve been given? Always remove your makeup before bed time! 🙂
3. How did you sleep last night? Wonderful, for the first time in days. Lately I’ve actually lost quite a lot of sleep (only 4-5hours per day) but tonight I managed to wake up at 13:30 :)and the reason must be that I was home alone for the weekend so perfect silence. 🙂
4. The Lord Of The Rings or Harry Potter? Both! 🙂
5. Do you like striped clothing? I like them on other people but not on me 🙂

beautifulwithbrains May 19, 2013 - 9:40 pm

Tavia, those movies must have been really bad if everyone was leaving!

And I’m glad you had a well-deserved good night’s sleep.

Icaria May 19, 2013 - 5:12 pm

1. Yes, recently I walked out of Les Misérables. I couldn’t watch the final scene, too close to my own loss.
2. Sunscreen and less is better.
3. Better than the previous night. 🙂
4. Both!
5. Not so much except for the Sailor style which can be a miss more often than not.

beautifulwithbrains May 19, 2013 - 9:46 pm

Icaria, I love sailor style clothes, but if done wrong, it looks horrible, I agree.

eight May 19, 2013 - 6:54 pm

1. Have you ever walked out of a film?
I did once because there were kids being really loud and annoying.

2. Best skincare advice you’ve been given?
Always take off your makeup before bed! And sunscreen.

3. How did you sleep last night?
Alright, though I didn’t get to sleep until 4 am.

4. The Lord Of The Rings or Harry Potter?
LotR, hands down!

5. Do you like striped clothing?
Love it; I own lots of clothes in the pattern.

beautifulwithbrains May 19, 2013 - 9:54 pm

Eight, it’s so annoying when you go to the cinema and the kids are being really loud. It really makes it difficult to follow the movie, and just spoils it.

Janessa May 20, 2013 - 7:04 pm

I want that dress!!! It’s so beautiful and I love delicate pieces like that. I’m going to check out those yummy scented lipsticks. 🙂 thanks for introducing to us all these cool products. That book should be destroyed. There shan’t be rules for what women have to be! Just kidding about destroying it since it is historical and neat but I can’t imagine a book like that selling well today :p

1. Yes, but not at a theatre, just at home or someplace casual
2. Wear sunscreen (thanks to you, Giorgia!) and use products with ingredients that actually work. Don’t be fooled!
3. Pretty well! Wow sorry to hear. I like storms and wish I could walk under a storm-proof bubble and be protects from lightening yet be outdoors
4. Lord of the Rings!
5. I like striped clothing, especially colorful ones.

Ana May 20, 2013 - 8:11 pm

“and use products with ingredients that actually work. Don’t be fooled!”
Yes. THAT.

beautifulwithbrains May 20, 2013 - 10:03 pm

Janessa, you’re welcome. I love that dress too and the lippies sound yummy.

I get what you mean about destroying the book (although I love books so much that I just couldn’t imagine destroying one, no matter how bad it may be.) It’s wrong to tell a woman what to be, but nevertheless I find books like that fascinating because they help you understand the society in which these women lived in and what was expected of them. Still, I have the feeling that the book was bought mostly by mothers for their daughters and that the latter paid very little attention to it lol. Some things never change… 🙂

Oh, I’d love a storm-proof bubble too, that’d be so cool! Just as long as the storm’s during the day. I’d like to sleep at night lol.

And I so agree re the ingredients. 🙂

Janessa May 21, 2013 - 6:44 am

I was out walking in a storm and I was on my toes everywhere I went because I’d hear a boom and the roar would travel 360 like the most majestic surround sound in existence. Every now and then I saw a bright flash and I decided I better just stay at home. If I got struck, that’d be terribly lame.

Thanks for your really thoughtful replies, Gio 🙂 <3

That must have been scary!
