Sunday Random Ramblings, Vol.57

by Gio

and happy Sunday everyone! I hope you are having a nice and relaxing day and are ready for this week’s random ramblings. Here we go:

On My Wishlist Vol.03

wishlist vol 3

1. Bobbi Brown Brightening Finishing Powder in Porcelain Pearl: an all-over powder that promises to instantly illuminate skin and give it a healthy-looking glow. The metallic silver packaging looks very sleek too.

2. Stila All You Need Is Love Blush Palette: how adorable is this pink blush palette? It’s impossible to resist! The palette will hit the shops soon, just in time for Saint Valentine’s Day.

3. Kaliko Pleated Middleton Dress: I love this feminine pink dress with a lace bolero attached by Kaliko. It looks similar to the gorgeous Jerry Packham teal gown worn by the Duchess of Cambridge, only shorter and pink. And it’s a lot cheaper too.

4. Kate Spade Pride And Prejudice Book Clutch: I’m not a big fan of clutches but I adore this one, which looks like a copy of one of my favourite books ever, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. How geeky chic is that?

5. True Romance Eyeshadow Trio in Helmut: a gorgeous palette featuring three green eyeshadows in pearl, matte, and glitter finishes that’s perfect for spring. If green isn’t your thing, the palette is also available in Beyond Redemption (blues), Fever Ray (burgundy/reds) and Dream (nude shades).

6. Shiseido Perfect Rouge Lipstick: a new lipstick that promises intense colour payoff, all-day hydration and a luxurious finish. It’s available in 14 shades so everyone will be able to find one they love.

What I’m Reading Now

sad cypress agatha christieSad Cypress by Agatha Christie. Elinor Carlisle is accused of murdering the beautiful Mary Gerrards. She’s the only one who had the motive (her fiancé fell in love with Mary), the means and the opportunity. But someone is not convinced and hires Poirot to investigate. But his investigations seem to confirm Elinor’s guiltiness. Christie has created an intricate plot, full of subtle hints, red herrings and sudden twists. And the solution will surprise you. This is one of my favourite Christie books and I highly recommend it to all fans of the genre.

Sunday Survey, Vol.136

1. Favourite poetry book?
Spoon River Anthology by Edgar Lee Masters. It’s a collection of poems, each written from the point of view of a resident of the town’s cemetery. Now they are dead, they can tell their truths free from social pressure and conventions.

2. Do you buy perfume samples?
Yes, it’s a great way to try new fragrances without breaking the bank.

3. New Year, new calendar. What does yours look like?
Mine is about horses. Very cute.

4. White or dark chocolate?

5. Do you like coffee?
Not that much, honestly.

1. Favourite poetry book? I’m locked here…I don’t read poetry 🙂
2. Do you buy perfume samples? Samples?! No, never ….they don’t even sell samples here. I used to receive samples for free not to pay for them.
3. New Year, new calendar. What does yours look like? Don’t have one 🙂
4. White or dark chocolate? None 🙂 milk chocolate for me pls.
5. Do you like coffee? I don’t drink coffee, I don’t like it. 🙂

I feel so strange, I’ve answer with no to every single question this time. It never happened before here on Random Ramblings. I hope it’s OK, I just want to be honest. 🙂

beautifulwithbrains January 20, 2013 - 9:48 pm

Tavia, milk chocolate is delicious too.

And of course it’s ok. We all have things we don’t like and there’s nothing wrong with that. 🙂

Makeup Morsels January 20, 2013 - 11:45 pm

1. Favourite poetry book?
hmm I still really like my book of Shel Silverstein poems from my childhood 🙂
2. Do you buy perfume samples?
I haven’t yet, but I’m considering doing it for Diptyque Philosykos.
3. New Year, new calendar. What does yours look like?
It’s a dry-erase one from Target that I reset every month. I’m obsessed with it.
4. White or dark chocolate?
Dark chocolate all the way.
5. Do you like coffee?
Love it. I’ve been trying to drink more green tea lately because it just feels ‘cleaner’ to me, but every once in awhile I’ll have a nice hot cup of black coffee or espresso.

beautifulwithbrains January 21, 2013 - 10:41 am

Makeup Morsels, I’ve never used a dry-erase calendar before. I think I may try it next year. 🙂

Marina(Makeup4all) January 21, 2013 - 12:21 pm

1. Favourite poetry book? I don’t like/read poetry, to tell the truth.
2. Do you buy perfume samples? Most of the times, small sizes but I will definitely start buying more samples soon.
3. New Year, new calendar. What does yours look like? Oh, I have so many, the one which is at work is with kitties, at home with nature etc.
4. White or dark chocolate? Usually white.
5. Do you like coffee? NO!

beautifulwithbrains January 21, 2013 - 10:08 pm

Marina, I love kitty calendars, they are so cute. My old one had kitties. 🙂

Viv January 21, 2013 - 4:02 pm

Oooh, love that Bobbi Brown Brightening Finishing Powder – it’s been in and out of various shopping baskets for the last couple of weeks 🙂

1. Favourite poetry book?
Lol, probably Roald Dahl’s Dirty Beasts!! I’ve never been fond of poetry, but the children (and I) find these really funny 🙂
2. Do you buy perfume samples?
3. New Year, new calendar. What does yours look like?
My calendar is ‘just’ Google calendar – which feeds through to my Blackberry, ipad, email client – and I print out the current week most Sundays. Not very pretty, but totally practical!
4. White or dark chocolate?
Dark (though I’m not that mad on either to be honest)
5. Do you like coffee?
Yes, but always have tea at home. I drink coffee at work, as I’m less fussy about how much milk etc. I do like the occasional Starbucks skinny cappuccino too.

Viv x

beautifulwithbrains January 21, 2013 - 10:09 pm

Viv, oh I really miss Starbucks! It’s so unfair we don’t have it here.

And a calendar needs to be practical, otherwise what’s the use?

eight January 21, 2013 - 6:24 pm

MUA has 50% off everything and free international shipping — you have to spend a minimum of £15 after discount (so £30 or more pre-discount). Ends on the 24th. Just thought I’d let you know!

beautifulwithbrains January 21, 2013 - 10:11 pm

Eight, thanks for letting me know. I’ll add it to the list. 🙂

Janessa January 26, 2013 - 7:17 am

Ohh I haven’t seen ‘Saint Valentines Day’ in soo long!! I forgot that’s the proper name. I’m excited for all holidays because I either get time off from school or there are sales or new collections haha.

1. What a cool book, I’m going to look it up. I don’t have a favorite petry book but if I had to pick something, it’d be Eminem’s Recovery lyric pamphlet that comes with the CD.
2. Nope. I buy the full size, sometimes even the biggest size without smelling it first. I don’t buy perfumes often and I research first.
3. The chashier at the supermarket gave me it. It’s of paintings by famous painters.
4. Dark, I love dark chocolate and I buy the highest cocoa percent I can get. Usually in the eighties. I just bought some chocolate this evening! I got 84%, 88%, and 90% but I’m giving the last one away.
5. Only when the coffee to milk ratio is 1:4 or coffee to vanillaice cream ratio is 1:5, something crazy. I prefer decaf should I drink coffee, but I don’t drink coffee much at all. Last year, I probably drank coffee less than 20 times. I never really drink it until the Starbucks holiday drinks come out and even then, I just have it once a week or twice.

Wow, I just reread my last response. It’s quite wordy. I’ll leave it for the sake of it having some character, to nicely put it (euphemism for sloppy writing haha).

beautifulwithbrains January 26, 2013 - 5:23 pm

Janessa, buying perfumes without smelling it first can be tricky. I hope you were never disappointed. 🙂

And I love to read your wordy responses. 🙂
