Sunday Random Ramblings, Vol.191

Hello gorgeous!

Ready for some random ramblings? Let’s start with what I’ve been craving lately then:

Love BB’s Shimmer Bricks? Then don’t miss the new summer edition. It’s called Sunset Pink and features pink bronze shades that beautifully enhance a tan. Available at Bobbi Brown.

Ok, I want this just because it looks so pretty, but the formula sounds great too. It has a delicate texture that promises to minimise ” the appearance of wrinkles and blemishes, creating a nearly invisible, flawless, “bare skin but better”-finish. Available at Rouge Bunny Rouge.

This oil and alcohol free formula is infused with water, which gives it a liquid texture with the benefits of a BB Cream. At least, that’s what Smashbox says. I’m sceptical it can provide the same coverage (this type of product is usually sheer), but I’d really like to put it to the test. It’s available at Smashbox.

Already available at Sephora, these LE multitasking brushes are handmade in Japan with an innovative synthetic bristle material that makes them soft as cashmere, yet allows them to deposit more product onto the face due to less absorption. There are five brushes in the collection:

  • Concealer Brush ($30.00): it can be used to apply blush, contour, or for more detailed application.
  • Fan Cheek Brush ($40.00): can be used to apply powder, contour, or bronzer.
  • Wedge Sloping Powder Brush ($54.00): this large angled powder brush can be used for the self-application of powder, bronzer, or for neck shading. The new shape is designed to sculpt and provide maximum control when applying makeup to yourself.
  • Small Teardrop Pointed Highlighter ($38.00): ideal for precision contouring and highlighting.
  • Large Teardrop Pointed Powder Brush ($49.00): a large pointed powder brush to apply powder, contour, or bronze.

My favourite piece in Tarte’s new fall collection, it gives lips a custom pop of berry that looks different on everyone. It’s probably not as unique as it sounds, but I’m a sucker for chubby pencils, so of course I’d like to try this one too! It’s available at Tarte Cosmetics.

I also like the new Cheek Stain shades from the same collection. Fearless is a pink coral, while Glisten a golden peachy pink. They seem more suitable for summer than fall, but then maybe that’s why they are released in the middle of July. Go figure what brands are thinking these days… They are both available at Tarte Cosmetics.

What’s on your wishlist this month?

What I’m Reading Now

the accidental empress allison pataki The Accidental Empress by Allison Pataki
When Habsburg Emperor Franz Joseph set eyes on Sisi, his betrothed’s sister, he was instantly smitten and declared he would marry no one else. Sisi, was equally infatuated. It was a romantic start to what promised to be a successful love marriage. But soon, things went horribly wrong, with the couple growing further and further apart. What went wrong?
We’ll never know what really happened, but novelist Pataki’s guess is probably very accurate and close to the truth. Sisi soon became disillusioned with life at court. A free spirit, she resented the many restrictions imposed upon her, hated to almost never see her husband during the day, and resented not being able to raise her own children. But when she complained to Franz, a man brought up from the cradle to do his duty no matter what, he didn’t understand. He only knew that he wanted a carefree spouse to help him forget his cares and instead found himself married to a depressed woman who always complained.
Both Sisi and Franz are frustrating characters who never seem to grow a backbone. But that only makes them more real and relatable. Equally vivid is the world Pataki has created. It comes alive, making the reader feel like she’s inside the story too. If you like Sisi, or historical novels that are both accurate and engaging, I recommend you pick up a copy. Its available at Amazon UK and Amazon US.

I really love the look of that tarte lip product, as well. Saw the swatches, and it is lovely.
As re “You Look Disgusting” feature, my brother actually sent me the link. Unfortunately, I was not surprised. But I will never understand that, WHY would people make such comments…

Marina, I don’t understand that either. If you have nothing nice to say, you should say nothing at all. But, unfortunately too many people think they can get away with anything online *sighs*
