Sunday Random Ramblings, Vol.159

by Gio

Happy Sunday gorgeous!

It’s time for some more random ramblings. Here we go:

Do you like podcasts?

Podcasts are all the rage now. All the popular kids are doing them. But listening to them has often been a struggle for me. I am a visual person and, for a podcast to keep my attention for more than 5 minutes, it must be really good!

I also like to scan content, and that’s very difficult to do with podcasts. You can’t easily identify which sections are the most interesting, but need to listen to the whole thing, hoping the blogger won’t repeat herself 100 times or go off on a tangent. I like my podcasts short and sweet, and straight to the point.

That’s cos I don’t have a lot of time to listen to them. It’s only when I’m having lunch on my own or doing some boring household chore that takes some time that I put a podcast on to help me pass the time. But even then I’d rather watch a 20 minute sitcom or listen to music. Dusting and vacuuming to some good pop or rock music is so much more fun!

But there’s one podcast that I love and always listen to to: The Beauty Brains Show. Randy and Perry are both cosmetic scientists dedicated to explaining the science behind beauty and debunk myths and lies brands feed you. Their show is about 30-40 minutes long (the maximum length I can usually put up with), informative and hilarious. If you love their blog, you must check out their podcast too.

Do you like podcasts? Which ones are your favourites?

What I’m Reading Now

sacred success
Sacred Success: A Course in Financial Miracles by Barbara Stanny
This is not your usual finance book. If you’re interested in tips on how to budget, invest, and manage your money, this is not for you. Sacred Success barely touches on these topics. Instead, what Stanny does is helping women realize what beliefs are keeping them from creating wealth and exercising power. To have a good relationship with money, you must first have a good relationship with yourself, live an authentic life, and follow your path. That way, you can become financially successful without compromising your values and your soul. Full of psychological and spiritual insights, as well as practical tips, this book is an interesting read for every woman who wants to take control of her finances. Available at Amazon.

1. I try to, but I am not very good at it.
2. I’d say Autumn, I love dark shades.
3. Nothing, I like to keep it clean,
4. None 🙂
5. Not on myself.

Gio November 23, 2014 - 4:02 pm

Marina, dark shades look great on you! 🙂 I wish I could pull them off as well too.

Laurie November 23, 2014 - 3:21 pm

Podcasts are a rarity for me. Like you, I prefer reading. If I’m going to listen to something, I’d rather catch up on new music.

1. Do you stretch?

Yes — I get injuries in my hips and feet if I don’t. And of course, I do at least a little yoga every day.

2. What’s your least favourite makeup season?

Summer. It’s my favorite season generally, but as far as makeup goes, it’s not a good season to experiment with different looks. It’s so hot that it all melts off!

3. What’s under your bed?

Cats. 🙂

4. Scrunchies or hair bands?

Neither. My hair isn’t really long enough.

5. Do you like sleeveless puffy vests?

Not really, no.

Gio November 23, 2014 - 4:12 pm

Laurie, I love summer too, but I agree, it’s not a good season makeup wise. When it’s that hot, it’s best to keep it minimal. You can always add a touch of colour to the look with some bright nail polish. At least that doesn’t melt!

Chic Readings November 23, 2014 - 4:17 pm

I know exactly what you mean, I don’t like when I don’t have a visual presentation and I also like to look at the person who is presenting because (maybe it sounds weird) sometimes their gestures make me remember things they say.
1. I stretch after each workout as it is so important to do that(preventing injuries, relaxing muscles) and when your workout is adequate for your level, your body asks for stretching and it feels so good.
2. Probably summer because my makeup is always melting or its too hot to put it in the first place:D
3. A Scale:)
4.Hair bands
5. I could pull them off but I don’t like them as my shape looks better when the material is falling and hugging my curves so I like stretchy denim or knitted vests more:)

Gio November 23, 2014 - 8:50 pm

Helena, I like to see the person who’s talking too. Just audio seems quite impersonal.

Trisha November 24, 2014 - 5:13 pm

I tend to listen to comedy podcasts. Right now, that’s mostly Not Too Deep with Grace Helbig.

1. Do you stretch. Stretching is overrated. I only do it after a really long run.

2. What’s your least favourite makeup season? If I have to choose one, it’s spring. Just because pastels are kind of boring. But I tend not to follow seasonal makeup trends anyway.

3. What’s under your bed? Nothing!

4. Scrunchies or hair bands? Bands for sure.

5. Do you like sleeveless puffy vests? I like them on other people, but I’ve never really gotten into them.

Gio November 24, 2014 - 9:51 pm

Trisha, I don’t follow trends either, but it’s a bit frustrating when the shops get inundated with shades you can’t pull off!
