Sunday Random Ramblings, Vol.139

by Gio

Hello ladies (and gentlemen),

ready for this week’s random ramblings? Here we go:

Scentbird Coupon Code

promo code scentbird
Buying fragrance online is always a risk. Perfume reacts with your body chemistry and, until you try it, you’ll never know how it’s gonna smell on you. Scentbird had come up with a clever way to solve this problem. How? By giving you the chance to try a perfume at home for free before deciding whether you want to buy it or not.

Here’s how it works. You choose the scent you’d like to try and Scentbird will send you both the full size bottle and a sample for free. You have 5 days to try the sample. If you like it, you can keep the full size bottle and your credit cart will be charged with the purchase. If you don’t like it, you send it back for free. Wonderful, isn’t it?

Scentbird has kindly offered Beautiful With Brains readers a 15% discount. Simply use the promo code “beautifulwithbrains” at checkout and, if you decide to keep the perfume, Scentbird will charge you 15% less for it. The code is valid until 9/15.

How to Be a Power Connector: The 5+50+100 Rule for Turning Your Business Network into Profits by Judy Robinett
Being a shy and reserved girl, networking has always been difficult for me. But it is also something that I really want to get better at. When done right, networking can enrich your life in so many ways, allowing you to meet lots of new and interesting people, become friends with them, and succeed in whatever you decide to do. In this book, power connector Judy Robinett debunks common myths about networking, explains how important forming valuable relationships with other people is, and shares tips and tools to do that in the right way. The key? Genuinely care about people, help them out, and provide value. The author has plenty of experience in this field, and shares lots of anecdotes and stories about the people she was able to help and be helped by thanks to her network. Although the book gets a bit repetitive at times, it is also very informative, and a must read for everyone who wants to learn to network successfully. Highly recommended.

Sunday Survey, Vol.207

1. Does the sound of silence make you uncomfortable?
Not at all. On the contrary, it’s one of my fave sounds! I so need some quite time every day to unwind, reflect, and recharge my batteries.

2. If you could be a makeup artist for any brand, which brand would it be?
Illamasqua. Their products are amazing, and you could do some really bold and creative looks for them.

3. How much time do you spend on the Internet each day, on average?
Mmm, I don’t know, but probably more than 10 hours (most of which are spent blogging, by the way 😉 )! But I do usually take a day off, either on Saturday or Sunday.

4. Snow White or Belle?
Belle. She’s the Disney princess I can relate the most to. Like me, she’s bookish and doesn’t fit in well in her small village.

5. What do you think of the little black dress?
I used to think that every woman needed one, but someone recently pointed out to me that, while black makes you look slimmer, it also makes you look heavier. Mmm… I prefer to wear bright colours, anyway. 🙂

1. Yeah it does make me uncomfortable. I can’t stand the sound of silence. Can’t even sleep without music on. The volume has to be very soft but I must still be able to hear it or else I won’t be able to sleep. Before I moved to my current place, I used to fall asleep to the sound of the street-sweeping machine!

2. I agree with you, definitely Illamasqua. A lot more fun because you can push the boundaries. More fun than MAC!

3. Good Lord, I think the only times I’m not on the Internet is when I’m taking a shower, eating and sleeping! I need the Internet to work so that’s not counted. 😛

4. Belle but mostly because Snow White irritates the bejeezus out of me.

5. Love it. They say all you need is one little black dress and you’ll be able to pull together a lot of outfits. Me, I have at least 5. Ahem. 😛

Tine, you can never go wrong with a LBD, can’t you? They’re so versatile. Although, since someone mentioned they make you look heavy, that seems to be the first thing I notice when I see someone wearing black. lol.

That’s so true. I feel like MAC has gone mainstream and is really not as creative as it used to be. *sighs*

A little black dress with some lace is definitely my favourite piece of clothing! But it has to have an A-line skirt and be tight-fitting in the waist, because that’s what suits me the most. I’m just really glad there are so many designs and colours to choose from, so we can all find our favourite dresses. 🙂

Regn, oh I love me some lace. And A-line skirts. Love your style. And I’m very glad of that too. There really is something for everyone these days. 🙂
