Sunday Random Ramblings, Vol.120

by Gio

Hello everyone,

and welcome to another round of random ramblings. Let’s get started:

The White Queen

the white queen

The White Queen is a British TV historical drama set against the backdrop of the war of the roses. I was a bit skeptical when I started watching it because it is based on Philippa Gregory’s trilogy, The Cousins’ War, and to say I’m not a fan of her works is understatement. But I really enjoyed this TV adaptation. The story focuses on the three women at the center of the civil war between the houses of York and Lancaster: Elizabeth Woodville, a Lancastrian commoner who marries the York King Edward IV, and is thus disliked by pretty much everyone else; Margaret Beaufort, a staunch Lancastrian supporter who plots to put her son Henry Tudor on the throne; and Anne Neville, the wife of the unfortunate king Richard III, who ascended to the throne after proclaiming the illegitimacy of Elizabeth and Edward’s sons who then mysteriously disappeared, never to be seen again. Although there is too much magic in it for my taste (Elisabeth’s mother was accused of being a witch), I think they did a good job at portraying a very complicated period in English history. Some of the characters are a bit too one-dimensional, but I loved the drama, the costumes and the settings. If you love historical dramas, you should watch this (if you haven’t already).

What I’m Reading Now

Demystifying Success: Success Tools and Secrets They Don’t Teach You in High School by Larry M Jacobson
Why it is that so many people never get to live the life they want and achieve their dreams? According to Jacobson, that’s because noone, neither at home nor at school, teaches them the skills they need to do to succeed in life. What are these skills? Goal setting and planning, time and money management, and self-esteem. In this book, Jacobson explains why they are so important and how to develop these healthy habits. At the end of every chapter, there’s also a call to action so you can start implementing what you’ve learned straight away. And you know his advice works, because Jacobson shares his own story, as well as those of friends and mentors, explaining how his life changed once he discovered these essentials tools for success. The book is written in an engaging and straightforward way. Overall, I highly recommend it not just to young adults and teenagers, but to people of every age who are ready to purse their goals in life. Available at amazon.

Well, I have too many pink lipglosses and peachy pink blushes. 😉

Nope, I rarely do on Sundays.

4. Flip-flops or sneakers?
Flip flops.

5. What do you think of fishnet stockings?
They work for certain looks, but I’m not a fan.

I totally agreed with Elvira’s post about selfies. I haven’t checked out the other links yet though, but I will after I am done with your little poll here!

1.How was your Easter? If you didn’t celebrate it, what did you do last weekend? I didn’t celebrate since I had to work.

2. A makeup product you can’t stop hoarding? Eyeshadow.

3. Are you wearing makeup today? Yes. Every day is a make-up day for me, even when I am not leaving the house.

4. Flip-flops or sneakers? Sneakers. I hate how flip flops get your feet dirty and how they feel so uncomfortable.

5. What do you think of fishnet stockings? Hard to not look trashy or tacky in them.

Kiss & Makeup, I’m sorry you had to work on Easter, that sucks.

I agree. It’s difficult to look good in fishnet stockings.

1.How was your Easter? If you didn’t celebrate it, what did you do last weekend? I did celebrated Easter with my family but the bad part was that I got sick and drunk only tea at the Easter table and I mostly spend my day in bed. 🙁
2. A makeup product you can’t stop hoarding? Definitely pink lipglosses
3. Are you wearing makeup today? Nope. Nowadays I wear makeup only when I have a special event, meeting or go out with friends. Usually during the day I don’t wear makeup as I also go to gym and I like to take better care of my complexion as lately I had some breakouts and redness.
4. Flip-flops or sneakers? Flip-flops in the summers and sneakers when I got to gym or take a walk in a park.
5. What do you think of fishnet stockings? I always associate them with trashy looks, I don’t know why. 🙂

That TV Show looks nice but I don’t think it was presented here for I’d never heard of it.

1. No celebration but a nice 3 days weekend! 🙂
2. Recently, mascara.
3. No and I don’t plan to since I don’t think I’ll be going anywhere.
4. Flip-flops! Love them but for the house mainly I rarely go out wearing them.
5. I don’t think I’ve ever owned a pair even when it was it fashion. I much preferred the ones with the seam in the back. 🙂

Icaria, what a shame! Hopefully it will be broadcast in Canada soon. It’s a great show.

I love those with the seam in the back too! 🙂
