Sunday Random Ramblings, Vol.116

by Gio

Hello everyone,

here’s another round of random ramblings. Enjoy, and don’t forget to share what you have been up to this past week as well!

Lemon Tart

lemon tart
This was my boyfriend’s second attempt at making a lemon tart. The first time he tried, he used three lemons, which was actually too much. The tart tasted quite bitter, but of course, we devoured it all anyway. This time, he used only one lemon, so the flavour was quite light and delicate, and absolutely delicious. He’s gonna try it with two lemons next time, and I can’t wait. Have you ever made a lemon tart, or baked anything lately?

What I’m Reading Now

I always loved you robin oliveira
I Always Loved You by Robin Oliveira
You must read this book. You absolutely must. Even if you’re not into history, art, or books. Even if you don’t have much time to read. But if you’re gonna read just one book this year, make it this one. And yes, I’ll get a small commission if you buy it through this Amazon link, but that’s not why I’m raving about it. I Always Loved You is about the romance about Edgar Degas and Mary Cassatt, but also focuses, in the background, on the relationship between Berthe Morisot and the Manet brothers, Edouard and Eugenie. If you know anything about this lot, you’ll know that I Always Loved You is not your classic love story.

The book is about both the pleasures and pains of love, its joys and its sacrifices, and the loneliness and regrets that remain when you lose it. It’s not the classic romantic love, but something more real and profound than that. It’s aย  very emotional, nostalgic and even bittersweet read. The characters, as well as Belle Epoque Paris, which is a character in itself, are vividly brought to life by Oliveira’s talent, brilliant prose and close attention to details. This one is truly a masterpiece, and that’s not something that can be said of many books.

Sunday Survey, Vol.194

1. Do you host dinner parties?
Nope, I have never hosted one, mainly because I’m a bad cook. I need to improve my culinary skills first.

2. A lipstick you never get tired of wearing it?
Sleek Makeup True Colour Lipstick in Rose Petal. It’s a beautiful antique pink shade that goes well with any look.

3. How are you feeling today?
Relaxed and well, thank you. I hope you are all fine and enjoying yourselves too. ๐Ÿ™‚

4. Do you see the glass half-full or half-empty?
Half-empty. I tend to be pessimistic by nature, although I’m trying to change that and training myself to see the good side in everything. I find that surrounding yourself with positive, optimistic people helps.

5. Do you like one-shoulder dresses?
Yes, I think they are very pretty and elegant.

Degas and Cassat??? I’ve never read anything about this if I had time I would definitely try to pick this book up. Intrigued is what I am now. ๐Ÿ™‚

Now that lemon tart would be right up my alley! You do know I have a lemon board on Pintereat?

1. I used to a lot.
2. Lately it’s been Dior Charnelle! Loooove!
3. It was a good day and now getting ready for bed. ๐Ÿ™‚
4. Hard to say, I used to be on the empty side, because of hubby it got to the full side but recently I just don’t know.
5. I find them pretty but doubt I would wear one. I’d be afraid of feeling cold on one side! ๐Ÿ™‚
