Sunday Random Ramblings, Vol.108

by Gio

Hello ladies,
can you believe it’s already Sunday again? How quickly time flies! Here are this week’s random ramblings:

A Present From A Friend

tine christmas present
If you follow me on Twitter, you’ve already seen the beautiful Christmas present I received from my friend Tine, the lovely blogger behind Beautyholics Anonymous. Tine sent me a bunch of stuff from Avon and a face sheet mask. Plus, an adorable card, with a sweet message inside. How nice was this of her? Thanks a lot, Tine! Both for the present and for your friendship over the years. 🙂

What I’m Reading Now

This Is How You Pitch: How To Kick Ass In Your First Years of PR by Ed Zitron
Although I don’t work in PR, as a blogger, I’m curious about the industry. During the years, I had the pleasure to work with some lovely and very helpful PR people, but I have also been on the receiving end of some awful pitches that ended in the trash folder straight away. In this little book Ed Zitron explains just how to avoid and, instead, effectively convey your message to your target audience. He shares tips on how to create great pitches that people want to read and share, how to make clients swoon over you and how do deal with PR nightmares such as your clients receiving bad press. He also emphasizes how the trick to succeed, in PR as in life, is simply to care about people. Zitron writes in a colloquial tone that will make you feel like you’re talking to a friend, and tells it like it is. He makes it clear, for instance, that the PR world isn’t as glamorous as it appears in Sex And The City. You won’t go to as many lavish parties at Samantha, especially not at the beginning. Overall, this is an entertaining and informative book on PR that will appeal to both professional who work (or would like to) in the field, and anyone else who wants to know more about the industry. It’s available at amazon.

You know I love your Sunday polls! 🙂

1. Do you like to drive fast? In a controlled environment like on a racing circuit, sure, but on the streets, no.

2. Have you ever tried to hide a tattoo with makeup? Actually yes, but it was a tattoo I drew on with eyeliner and it was for a review on the Vichy Dermablend products 🙂

3. What’s the weather like in your neck of the woods? Snowy.

4. Would you rather give up your computer or your books? Books, because you can read e-books now 🙂

5. Do you like pantsuits? All depends on the style and the cut, but in general I do.

-32°C? That’s freezing cold! Actually, that’s an understatement. I hope the weather will soon get warmer in Canada.
