Sunday Random Ramblings, Vol.104

by Gio

Hello everyone,

and welcome to the last Sunday Random Ramblings post of the year. So, here’s mine, and don’t forget to share yours in the comments!

Pupa Christmas 2013 Advert

Pupa always creates adorable palettes for the holidays, but this year their cuteness has been overshadowed by that of the testimonial. A cat. Italian makeup lovers have fallen in love with it (and how could you not?). The only problem is that now everyone wants the cat rather than the palettes lol. What do you think of the spot?

What I’m Reading Now

the boleyn deceit laura andersen
The Boleyn Deceit by Laura Andersen
This is the second volume of a trilogy, but you can easily follow it even if you haven’t read the previous book. Andersen wonders what would have happened if Anne Boleyn had had a son to follow his father on the throne. Will history still repeat itself? Henry IX, known as William, is finally ruling England in his own right, after the regency period came to an end. But his throne isn’t secure. Plots are being hatched and executed all around him, while strategic alliances must be forged to avoid war and keep the throne secure. The only people who William can trust are his sister Elizabeth, his best friend and counselor Dominic, and a poor orphan raised as a royal ward he’s in love in, Minuette. Usually, I’m not a fan of what-if history books, but this one is amazing. The plot is enthralling, full of twists and turns, but entirely plausible. The characters are complex and well-rounded and the attention to detail is impressive. It’s obvious the author did a lot of research and managed to waive into in the story in a way that vividly brings the Tudor court to life. And it’s extremely well-written too. I highly recommend it to all fans of historical fiction. Available at amazon.

1. What are your plans for New Year’s Eve?
I haven’t decided yet. I think I may stay at home with my boyfriend, watching a movie or something. We’re boring like that. But we may change our minds at the last minute and go to a party.

2. A beauty resolution for the new year?
I’d really like to learn how to do a cat’s eye makeup properly. When I try to wing out my eyeliner, it always turns out so weird.

3. Is it snowing where you are?
Not really. Usually, I’m happy about that cos I really dislike snow, but I wouldn’t have minded a white Christmas this year.

4. Fruit or vegetables?

5. Do you like deep fried pizza?
Neapolitan fried pizza yes. But deep-frying a frozen pizza, no. Just no.

It’s your turn now!

1. What are your plans for New Year’s Eve? This year I have no plans even though I have a lot of options. For some reason I just don’t feel like going anywhere, I know it’s strange but perhaps because I was so stressed and busy in the last couple of months.
2. A beauty resolution for the new year? I really want to loose the 25 kg I gained over the past 2 years.
3. Is it snowing where you are? It usually snows and we’ve always had a white Christmas but this year is so warm. Just the other day we had +12 C
4. Fruit or vegetables? I don’t like any of them but if I were to pick I would say fruit and strawberry if it were possible.
5. Do you like deep fried pizza? Nope 🙂

PS: Expect an e-mail from me anytime now. I want to talk to you about something. 🙂

If I had time I would love to read that book, I’m not much of a fane of “what if” either but based on your comments this one looks like fun!

1. No plans. Staying home with my girl.
2. I don’t really have any except maybe loose a little more weight but I don’t see that as a resolution. Oh try to get my hair cut a little more often would be one. 🙂
3. Vegetables.
4. I didn’t even know you could deep fry them! Do you mean calzones? If so, no way! I’ve never had those and would never consider since they are so good out of a stone oven! Now I’m hungry! 🙂

Icaria, I mean buying a frozen pizza at the supermarket and deepfrying it. Apparently, that’s very popular in Scotland. Actually, they deepfry everything there, including chocolate bars like Mars. Myabe it’s because I’m Italian (we take food very seriously here), but that just horrifies me. In Naples though, they make a type of pizza that must be fried, but that’s part of the preparation.
