Soigné Barbe A Papa Collection: Candy For Nails

I still remember the day a sweet shop opened in my little town. I had just stepped foot into the mall when a bright, multi-coloured sign caught my eye: candy! I took hold of my mom’s hand, and, as fast as my legs could carry me, ran to the shop.

Once inside, I rushed from one end to the other, curious to check out what they had to offer, and wondering what I should try first. I wanted to eat everything! My mom just wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. So, she agreed to buy me a little something, promising we’d be back soon.

I think about that every time I wear Framboise Bleue and Cherry Berry, two of the shade in the Soigné Barbe A Papa collection (Barbe A Papa means candyfloss). Those bright and bold shades are like candy for the nails. Same hues, same cuteness.

My favourite is Framboise Bleue, which, frankly, doesn’t really look all that blue to me. It’s more of a teal/aqua hue that leans more to the green end of the spectrum. That’s why I love it so much. I just can’t resist a pretty green or aqua polish.

Cherry Berry is very pretty too. It’s a vibrant dark fuchsia with a lovely creamy finish. It’s the perfect shade to add a bright pop of colour to a simple, neutral outfit. It attracts attention, but without being over-the-top.

Both shades have a thick texture that applies really smoothly on the nails. No streaking! If application doesn’t turn out as perfectly as I’d like, it’s because I can’t keep my hands as still as they should. Soigné’s formula can’t be faulted.

Colour payoff is great too. Frembeuse Bleue is the least pigmented of the two, but that doesn’t mean it’s sheer. Two coats are all you need. With Cherry Berry, you could get away with one coat, but I still use two, for good measure.

Once on, they last for about 4 days before chipping slightly. That’s if you don’t wear a top coat. If you do, you’ll get a couple more days of wear. I’m really fickle with my nail polish, and like to change it often, so four days is more than enough for me.

And can we talk about the packaging, please? Those little bottles are adorable! So simple but chic. They’d look great on any vanity.

Pros: Beautiful, bright shades with a creamy finish; Thick formula is easy to apply, no streaking; Good lasting power; Good colour payoff.

Cons: If you like subtle, neutral shades, these aren’t for you.

Summary: Bright and creamy, Soigné Framboise Bleue and Cherry Berry are easy to apply, have great colour payoff, and last fairly long, especially with a top coat.
