Name: Stay All Day Vinyl Lip Gloss in Nude
Brand: Stila
Size: 0.14oz
Price: $24.00
From Stila’s website:
A high-shine, high pigment, high performance lip gloss that gives the appearance of a bold, lacquered lip.
What I liked:
– very pigmented
– flattering and shiny nude shade
– moisturizing
– longlasting
What I didn’t like:
– texture is sticky and thick
– keeps ending up on the teeth
– non transfer-proof
– scent may be too sweet for some people
Some girls can’t stand even the slightest hint of stickiness in their lipglosses. I’m not one of those girls. I don’t care much if the texture feels a bit uncomfortable on the lips. Or if, on a windy day, my gloss gets stuck to my pout.
As long as it lasts more than a couple of hours, and spares me the hassle of frequent touch-ups, a bit of stickiness is cool with me. A worthy trade off. But even I have my limits.
Stila Stay All Day Vinyl Lip Gloss in Nude tested them and lost. It feels like a thick, sticky paste on the lips. I wouldn’t go as far as call it uncomfortable, though. It is quite moisturizing, even after several hours of wear, but you can’t easily forget you have it on. You can always feel it.
Worse, the colour keeps ending up on my teeth. Nude is a pretty, safe shade. A nude with pinkish undertones that flatter the complexion rather than washing it out. But I feel so self-conscious whenever I wear it. Will I be able to laugh, smile, even just talk freely? Or has some of the colour travelled onto my teeth again?
Too often, when I wear Nude Vinyl, people have kindly let me know I have some gloss on my teeth. I’m grateful for that, but it’s not something that should happen frequently, is it? I don’t know if these issues – both stickiness and migration – are specific to Nude Vinyl or if they affect the whole range, but I am in no rush to find out.
That’s a shame cos, these drawbacks aside, Stila Stay All Day Vinyl Lip Gloss Nude is not a bad gloss at all. Yes, it is very sticky, but it lasts about 5 hours on the lips before turning into a pretty shade. If you can stand the texture, you’ll hardly need to touch it up throughout the day. That’s if your lips don’t touch anything. This stuff transfer to anything like crazy!
Colour payoff is exceptional too. It is opaque in just one coat, so you only need a little for each application. And the shiny finish is lovely. I love to pair this gloss with a neutral matte eye look or a bright pop of eyshadow. Like any other nude shade, it complements any kind of look well. Unlike most nudes, the pinkish undertones make it interesting and a lot easier to wear.
It’s also easy to apply thanks to the doe-foot applicator. Although, I don’t really enjoy applying it so much, and not just because of the issues with the texture I’ve already talked about. Vinyl Gloss is infused with a sickly sweet scent. As a teen, I would have loved it. Now, it sickens me. But, at least, you can’t smell it at all once on the lips. It fades really quickly.
Summary
Shiny and flattering, Stila Stay All Day Vinyl Lip Gloss in Nude has great colour payoff, moisturizing properties, and staying power. But it is also very thick, and sticky, always ends up on the teeth, and transfers easily.

Hmm, I gotta admit–not a fan. Especially when it comes to the stickiness. Can’t beauty brands realize that we hate sticky gloss?
Trisha, I guess it’s difficult to formulate a longlasting gloss that’s not sticky at all. But this is way, way too sticky and thick. It’s really uncomfortable on. 🙁
I saw this gloss in the Stila section & wanted to buy it. Glad I didn’t 🙂
Gauri, it’s tempting, isn’t it? It’s longlasting and pretty but oh so uncomfortable!
