Product Review: Moschino Couture! Fragrance

by Gio

moschino couture perfume

Name: Couture!
Brand: Moschino
Size: 0.13
Price: $12.01

What I liked:
– well-crafted warm floral woody scent with a citrusy opening
– good sillage
– excellent staying power
– the bottle

What I didn’t like:
– not very original
– discontinued (although it can still be found online)

Couture, or custom-made dresses, aren’t necessarily creative or innovative. They can actually be quite boring and ordinary but, because they suit the body to a T, they always make the wearer look elegant and polished. That’s what Moschino Couture does too. It’s not very original, but it is very well-crafted, enveloping you, like a cashmere sweater or a silk scarf, in a classy and sophisticated embrace.

Couture! opens with a fresh and quite sweet (but not sugary-so) citrusy accord. Bergamot and tangerine are enlivened by a light sprinkle of pepper that provides subtle spicy accents to the opening. The rich floral heart is made up of jasmine and poppy. It’s strong without being too heady or overpowering. There’s also a slightly soapness to it, but with a tame spicy vibe.

Finally, the drydown unfolds. It’s a sweet vanilla and benzoin concoction enriched by warm woody notes. It smells sophisticated, with only a touch of sensuality. Couture! is not a sexy, seductive scent. It’s an elegant perfume that well-complements a professional suit for the workplace, or a classy evening gown for a black-tie occasion.

The scent has great sillage. It’s not too loud (unless you apply it generously, which I don’t recommend you do), but it doesn’t stay too close to the skin either. And once on, there’s no need to reapply it. This stuff easily lasts from morning till night. Unfortunately, its presence on department store shelves hasn’t been too longlasting. Moschino has recently discontinued Couture!, but, if you’re interested, you can still buy it online. But hurry up!

Moschino Couture! opens with a citrusy accord, progresses into a rich floral bouquet, and ends with a warm woody and sweet base. The scent, which has good sillage and excellent staying power, is not particularly original, but well-crafted and sophisticated. Unfortunately, it has been discontinued, although it can still be found online.
