Name: Pure Color Gloss in Garnet Desire
Brand: Estee Lauder
From Estee Lauder’s website:
High performance wear. Feels light and luscious, never sticky. Drenched with conditioners. Smooths on precisely, stays on perfectly.
Each shade comes in the luminous, multi-dimensional finish that suits it best: Shine, Shimmer or Sparkle.
What I liked:
– good colourful payoff
– shimmery, brightens up the face
– hydrating, non-sticky texture
– delicious sweet scent
What I didn’t like:
– average staying power
My obsession for Estee Lauder Pure Color Glosses shows no signs of abating anytime soon. After Raspberry Pop, Pink Innocence, and Blazing Coral, I’m now rocking Garnet Desire, a shimmery cool strawberry shade.
So, what’s so special about these glosses? Where to start…? The formula. It’s lightweight. Hydrating. And, most importantly, not sticky. They feel so comfortable on the lips, and glide on smoothly thanks to the doe-foot applicator.
Then there’s the shimmer. Lots of shimmer. Elegant and sophisticated, it brightens up your face without making you look like a cheap discoball. And what to say about the colour payoff? That’s just right. Not so sheer that you’re wondering why the heck you’ve just spent $24.00 on something you can barely see. But not so pigmented to scare the less adventurous of you off.
And I haven’t even mentioned the scent yet. Delicious. It’s sweet and fruity. Think of figs coated in a thin veil of sugar. It will not be anyone’s cup of tea, of course, but then when has a scent ever pleased everyone?
Talking about tea, these glosses don’t like it much. It fades when I drink it (or anything else). It disappears even faster when I eat. Left untouched, it stays put for only a couple of hours. A bit disappointing, isn’t it? If I could change one thing about these glosses, I’d only make them a bit more longlasting. But then nothing is perfect, I guess.
There are so many shades to choose from but if you love a red lip, whether you have the courage of wear it or not, opt for Garnet Desire. If red lips scare you, Garnet Desire makes for a gentle introduction to this classic, timeless shade.
It’s sheer enough not to make you too uncomfortable and self-conscious when you wear it. Sure, if you’re not used to it, you’ll still feel a but weird at first, but before you know it you’ll be wondering why you were so hesitant to try a red gloss and rush to the nearest beauty counter to buy a bright, intense red lippie.
If you are already into bright, bold reds, then Garnet Desire may look too tame for you. Used alone, it may well be. But when swiped at the center of your lips when you’re rocking a matte shade, it ads some luminosity and depth to the look. So pretty!
And it can be worn all year round. Personally, I rock all kinds of shades all year round, but I know some may feel uncomfortable wearing a pastel lip in the fall or a vampy pout in summer. But sheer reds are always in, always make you look great, and always give you a little confidence boost. No makeup stash is compete without one.
Estee Lauder Pure Color Gloss in Garnet Desire is a sheer, shimmery red with a lovely, hydrating, non-sticky texture. But it only lasts a couple of hours on the lips.
