From Caudalie’s website:
The perfect solution for a self-tan- and sun-free natural tan, that gives you just the amount of color you want. The tinted fluid’s ultra-light texture sweeps a skin-kissed glow over your legs while activating your skin’s natural tanning process. The one-tint suits all melts on the skin and dries in a flash.

What I liked:
– provides a natural sunkissed glow
– suitable for most skintones
– lightweight, not runny, applies easily
– no streaks
– doesn’t leave a tacky residue behind
– doesn’t stain clothes
– easily removed with water

What I didn’t like:
– if you want something that lasts a few days, this is not for you
– can’t be worn at the beach or pool
– the scent may be too strong and sweet for some people

I don’t get tanning. I never did. Pale skin rocks. Why would anyone want to darken it? But I know I’m in the minority. Most people love that sunkissed glow, and want a safe way to achieve it.

Sunbathing isn’t it. Neither are self-tanners. They may not be dangerous, but the risks of a patched tan or orange skin are always around the corner. Fixing those mistakes ain’t easy.

So, what’s a pasty girl to do? Use a tint body lotion. My favourite (ok, it’s the only one I tried but I swear it is so good that, if I loved tanning, I wouldn’t ever look for anything else) is Caudalie Divine Legs.

It’s pricey for a temporary, one day, tan that’s easily removed with water (this is definitely not something you can wear at the beach or even on a rainy day), but it delivers a pretty natural glow, is easy to use, and is mess-free.

It’s hard to believe it just by looking at it, isn’t it? The colour is soooo dark! But, once applied, it sheers out, darkening your natural skin tone by two or three shades. Rather than an ugly orange, it turns your skin a warm golden caramel shade.

The golden shimmers are so fine they are almost invisible to the naked eye, but give your skin a lovely, natural glow. I may not like a tan, but this does look pretty. I’m very tempted to use it on special occasions when I need my legs (or arms, or whatever) to match the rest of my body.

Its lightweight, thin (but not runny!) texture is easy to spread and dries pretty much instantly, without leaving streaks or a tacky residue behind. It doesn’t stain clothes either. But I wouldn’t wear white, just in case. I never do (being the clumsy girl I am, it is just a recipe for disaster), but white fabrics stain so easily. You don’t want to take unnecessary chances.

You won’t even make a mess when you apply it. If, like me, you always seem to stain anything that can be stained when you use tinted products, rest reassured. That won’t happen this time. The only things that’ll get stained are your hands, and they can be easily washed off with water.

Sounds perfect, doesn’t it? Sadly, it has one flaw. At least I think it is a flaw. You may love it. I’m talking about the scent. Divine Legs is infused with Caudalie’s signature Divine, a mixture of “grapefruit, rose, pink pepper, vanilla, cedar, and white musk.”

It’s a warm, woody floral scent many women love. Again, I’m in the minority because I can’t stand it. The spiciness of the pepper is toned down by the sweetness of the vanilla, creating an unpleasant mix for those of us who don’t like overly sweet scents.

It’s pretty strong too, so, if you don’t like it, application isn’t too pleasant. But I can barely smell it once applied, so it doesn’t bother me too much.

Caudalie Divine Legs is a tinted body lotion that delivers a natural, sunkissed glow without streaks. It’s not tacky, doesn’t stain clothes, and is easily removed with water. But the strong, sweet scent won’t be everyone’s cup of tea.
