bite beauty luminous creme lipstick palomino 02

Name: Luminous Creme Lipstick in Palomino
Brand: Bite Beauty
Size: 0.15oz
Price: $24.00

From Sephora’s website:
A lush, long-lasting, moisture-rich lip color.

What I liked:
– beautiful, vibrant shade
– shiny finish
– very pigmented
– very longlasting

What I didn’t like:
– texture is not very creamy
– feels dry on the lips after a couple of hours

What has Bite Beauty Luminous Creme Lipstick in Palomino got in common with the palomino horse? They both stand out in a crowd. Palomino is a gorgeous breed characterized by a pale gold coat and white mane and tail that make these horses very sought after for parades. Their unusual colour makes them easy to spot in a group.

Bite Beauty Luminous Creme Lipstick in Palomino attracts attention for its colour too. But not for its paleness or uniqueness. It stands out for its boldness. A bright magenta, almost fuchsia, shade with cool, purple undertones and a shiny finish, Palomino is not for the faint of heart.

Nor is it something you can swipe on in a jiffy. The shade is so pigmented and intense you need to use a lip brush to apply it properly and precisely. I also prefer to use a brush for another reason. This shade doesn’t glide on the lips too smoothly. I had heard how creamy Bite Beauty lipsticks are but Palomino seems to be the exception.

It doesn’t really tug at the lips, but it’s not as creamy as I expect a $24.00 lipstick to be either. On the plus side, it means Palomino stays put. It doesn’t feather, bleed, or seep into fine lines. It fades, but very slowly.

When I wear Palomino, I can have a quick snack without worrying about touch-ups. That leaves the colour just that little bit faded, but intact and gorgeous. Dinner will turn it into a pretty, even stain. You can reapply it if you miss its vibrancy, but I don’t. I like its softer side too. It makes it easier to wear.

Thing is, no matter what you do, only a makeup remover can make Palomino completely leave your lips. But you may want to say goodbye long before retiring for the night. As so often happens, the colour far outlasts the moisture. After a couple of hours, Palomino starts feeling really dry on the lips, so make sure you have a lip balm at the ready (or better, apply it beforehand).

Bite Beauty Luminous Creme Lipstick In Palomino is vibrant, pigmented, and incredibly longlasting. However, the texture isn’t very creamy and it feels dry after a couple of hours.

Rating: 3.5/5

This shade is their most popular one and I can see why, it’s gorgeous! I’ve seen emilynoel83 talk about it a lot! x

Stavroula, it is gorgeous indeed. I just wish it were a bit more moisturizing.

I bought the LE Holiday 2014 from Bite Beauty, and I had good luck with them. I got the lip crayon/pencil quad, and the double-ended mini-lipsticks. Palomino was one of the choices for the mini-lipstick, but I can’t wear that shade. It looks fabulous on you! I’m sorry that it’s drying on you after a while. I did fine with them, on me neither drying nor hydrating. It’s so difficult to tell which ingredients are hard to get along with sometimes. I was just saying to Christine at Temptalia that I can’t wear TF Melteds, and I don’t know what it is that makes them drying for me (there’s no peppermint). You know so much about ingredients, Gio, do you know which other ingredients can be drying?

Gio March 31, 2015 - 6:15 pm

Allison, glad you had better luck with them. 🙂 Usually it’s alcohols, such as Alcohol Denat or Isopropyl Alcohol, and surfactants, such as Sodium Lauryl Sulfate and Ammonium lauryl sulfate, that are drying because they can suck moisture out of the skin.

These aren’t very used in lip products though. So it could just be the ratio of ingredients in a formula. If a lippie contains a high amount of pigments and a little dose of moisturizing ingredients, then it may feel drying. Of course this also depends on the condition your lips are in. TF Melteds are highly pigmented, so it may be they don’t contain enough moisturizing agents to keep your lips soft.

The color looks great on you. Really livens up your whole look.
