When your skin is sensitive, shopping for skincare becomes a minefield.
All of a sudden, it seems that every skincare product out there is full of irritants.
Alcohol? Too drying. Fragrance? Too irritating! Essential oils? A disaster waiting to happen! Retinol? I wish, but my skin would throw a tantrum again.
So, what’s left? Simple formulas with a few nourishing ingredients and no extra irritants. But, where to find them?
In Singapore. Ok, you don’t have to go all the way there to buy good skincare products for sensitive skin. You can just order them online.
But there’s a new skincare brand in Singapore called Qlabo that has finally decided to fill this whole in the market and come to the rescue of folks with sensitive skin.
They formulate their products in Switzerland because they think that’s where the best skincare science comes from (take that, South Korea).
Their promise to you? To offer you anti-aging products that don’t make your skin scream in pain.
Do they keep it? Let’s investigate:
Eauphoria Complete Moisture Treatment
Eauphoria Complete Moisture Treatment is like a refreshing glass of water for your skin. Why?
Sodium hyaluronate. It’s a form of hyaluronic acid that can attract, and bind, to the skin up to 1000 times its weight in water. I dare you find something more hydrating!
Oh, glycerin gives it a helping hand. It works in the exact same way, but can attract less water to the skin. Still enough to amp up the serum’s hydrating power up a notch.
But what makes Eauphoria different from most hydrating serums out there is niacinamide. I swear I’ll never understand why niacinamide isn’t more popular. It does EVERYTHING.
- Stimulate collagen production to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles? Check.
- Increase the levels of ceramides to strengthen the skin’s protective barrier and keep skin hydrated? Check.
- Reduce dark spots and melasma? Check.
- Soothe irritations and rosacea? Check.
- Treat acne? Check.
It’s summer now, so my skin is well-hydrated on its own. But Eauphoria gives it a boost. After experimenting with Korean skincare, I believe skin can never get enough hydration.
Even the slightest boost makes such a huge difference. The more hydrated skin is, the plumper and glowier it looks. And that always makes you look younger. And this stuff does add a lot of hydration to the skin.
That’s why I’ve stopped using it.
“Wait… what? Didn’t you just say you love this stuff, Gio?,” I hear you ask.
Yep, I do. But I live in London now and my skin doesn’t like the winter weather here. Last winter, my skin had become a dry, flaky, and red mess. I’m not risking that again.
So, I’ll keep the rest of this serum safe for when the weather will turn cold (shouldn’t be too long now *sighs*). If it works this well in summer, I know it’s gonna save my skin in winter.
Oh, I was almost forgetting to tell you about the texture. Lightweight and fast-absorbing, just like it should be.
Collagenerous Advanced Youth Rejuvenator
If you’re struggling to find a moisturizer that hydrates your dry and sensitive skin without triggering its alarm and causing another irritation, check this out. It works in three ways:
- Dimethicone creates a breathable barrier (yes, really!) on the skin that prevents moisture loss. It also fills in fine lines and wrinkles so they look smaller and gives skin that velvety soft feel.
- Collagen, milk thistle oil, and glycerin moisturize skin, leaving it softer and plumper (this makes wrinkles look smaller too).
- Allantoin soothes irritations.
Its white, lightweight texture glides smoothly on my skin and sinks in in no time. It does a great job at moisturizing my skin from morning till evening, when I reapply it again before I go to bed.
I can see its effects straight away. Just after application, my skin is softer and the fine lines around my eyes look instantly smaller. The catch? Its effects are only temporary.
Some of you demand more from a moisturizer. But if you sensitive skin that can’t tolerate the workhorses of skincare, you’re going to love this.
In case I wasn’t clear enough, Qlabo definitely impressed me. If the first two products from the brand are this good, I can’t wait to see what they have in store for us in the future.
