Name: Natural Blend Lip Shimmer
Brand: Wet n Wild
From Wet n Wild’s website:
Adds brilliant shimmer and beautiful luminescent color to lips. Approved by the Natural Products Association, these lip shimmers are made of a natural formula infused with calming ingredients of vitamins and natural oils to keep lips moisturized and nourished.
What I liked:
– very pigmented
– easy to apply, glides on smoothly
– the scent
– the packaging
– the price
What I didn’t like:
– if you want a sheer lip balm, this is not for you
– strong tingling sensation
– some shades can be frosty
– not very longlasting
I was first attracted to Wet n Wild Natural Blend Lip Shimmer because of its cute packaging. The small tube has a yellowish green leaves design that reflects the natural ingredients used in the product (it is approved by the National Product Association although an ingredient list isn’t printed on the tube so I don’t know exactly what it contains) and just looks very pretty.
The Lip Shimmer is available in 9 shades but unfortunately I’m not sure which one I have. I picked it up at the store without bothering to check its name because usually products have it printed on them but this doesn’t. Well, it says it is n.62 but Wet n Wild products have different names in Europe and US (why can’t products have the same name everywhere?!) and the Lip Shimmers haven’t been added to their European website yet so I can’t check the name. If anyone knows what color n.62 is, please let me know in the comments.
Whatever its name, I really love this shade. It is a beautiful rosy pink with no shimmers at all (apparently some of the other shades are very frosty but not this one) and has incredible color payoff. Wet n Wild describes it as a lip balm so I was expecting it to give just a slight tint to my lips, but it is actually very pigmented and one coat will give you opaque coverage. To me, it performs more as a lipstick than a lip balm to be honest.
Lip Shimmer has a creamy consistency that glides on smoothly and is fairly moisturizing. It is comfortable on and keeps your pout soft and moisturized, but if you have dry lips, it won’t be enough on its own. In addition, it lasts about 3 hours on me, so you will have to reapply it a few times throughout the day. And while I’m fond of the minty scent, it provides a tingling sensation on the lips that, although not painful, is stronger than that of most products I’ve tried that provide the same tingling feeling. I usually like it, but in this product, it is just too much for me.
Available at: Walgreens
If you are looking for a very pigmented lip balm that will keep your lips moisturized while adding a lot of color to your lips, Wet n Wild Natural Blend Lip Shimmer is for you. Just be careful when you choose your shade, as some have a frosty finish. In addition, they don’t last long on the lips but have a lovely minty scent and a creamy consistency that applies easily.
