Name: I-Divine Glory Eyeshadow Palette
Brand: Sleek Makeup
From the press release:
Shades aptly taken from London’s famous underground stations such as: Circle, Central and Victoria echo vibrant shades taken from the Olympic rings that have been created into wearable colours. Like all i-Divines, Glory is jam packed with pigment – allowing all shades to pop on all skin tones all day (and night!).
What I liked:
– nice mix of bright and neutral shades
– very pigmented
– soft texture, blends easily
– the packaging
– the price
What I didn’t like:
– Platform is sheer, dry and chalky
– if you’re not into bright shades, you may find some of the colours in the palette difficult to use
There aren’t many products that excite me these days, but Sleek Makeup palettes never fail to do that. The latest one is called Glory and, as the name suggests, it was inspired by the upcoming Olympic games. But this palette does not only commemorate this important sporting event, it also celebrates the city that will be hosting it, London. The shades in the palette, whose colours were inspired by those of the medals and the Olympic rings, are named after the London Tube lines. And match them too!
Thus we have Central, which is red, Circle, which is yellow and District, which is green for instance. Being both an Anglophile and a London lover, and having taken the tube there many times, this made me squeak in delight! I remember I was so scared of taking the wrong train and ending up who knows where the first time because there are just so many lines, but they’re all colour-coded which makes the map really easy to navigate. It is impossible to get lost!
Glory features two matte and ten shimmering shades housed in a sleek black case. The colour combination is very interesting. The first row is the easiest to use as it contains neutral shades. At first glance, they seemed very boring to me, but when I swatched them, I fell in love. They’re really pretty and will appeal to most people. The second row, instead, houses very bright and bold shades you can use to create fun and summery looks.
However, if you’re not into bright colours, you may find these very challenging to use. I do think, though, that this would be a great palette for those who’d like to add some bold shades into their stashes without breaking the bank. You can experiment with the loudest colours in your free time, and use the neutral ones to create natural looks for the day and smokier ones for the evening. Let’s see what shades it contains, shall we?
Tube: shimmering pale gold
Overground: shimmering pale beige
Bakerloo: shimmering brownish bronze
Jubilee: shimmering silver
Platform: matte pale grey
Northern: shimmering greyish blue
And now the brights:
District: shimmering medium bright green
Hammersmith And City: shimmering hot pink
Piccadilly: shimmering navy blue
Circle: shimmering bright yellow
Victoria: shimmering sky blue
Central: matte red
As usual, Sleek Makeup eyeshadows are insanely pigmented, very soft to the touch and blend easily. However, there is a dud in the palette. Platform, one of the two matte shades, is quite sheer so you’ll have to layer it to get it to show up, and even then it goes on quite patchy. Its texture is very dry and chalky too. What about the staying power? All the eyeshadows are quite longlasting, but if you have oily lids, I’d recommend you wear a primer underneath to prevent creasing.
Available at: Superdrug stores throughout the UK
Sleek Makeup I-Divine Glory Eyeshadow Palette features a nice mix of neutral and bright shades in shimmery and matte finishes to create both wearable and fun looks. With the exception of Platform, which is quite sheer, the other shades are all very pigmented, soft to the touch and blend easily. However, if you’re not a fan of bright shades, you may find some of the colours in this palette difficult to use.
