senna lip lacquers bonfire sunstone

Name: Lip Lacquer in Bonfire And Sunstone
Brand: Senna
Size: 4.28ml
Price: $20.00

From Senna’s website:
This moist and smooth vanilla flavored lipgloss formula applies high shine and color.

What I liked:
– buildable colour payoff
– very shiny finish
– creamy texture, glides on smoothly and feels comfortable on the lips
– excellent staying power
– lovely vanilla scent
– elegant packaging

What I didn’t like:
– they’re sticky

Let’s get the sticky out of the way first. Senna Lip Lacquers are sticky. Not too much, but enough to put off ladies who can’t stand even the tiniest hint of stickiness. Me? I love it. You see, it’s the stickiness that makes a lipgloss last, and if I have to put up with that to avoid reapplying it every couple of hours, I gladly will.

Senna Lip Lacquers last for hours on the lips and disappear only after you’ve had a proper meal. That’s why I love to use them on those days when I’m out of the house from morning till night. I just swipe a Lip Lacquer on and forget all about it, safe in the knowledge that it’s still as pretty and intact as when I applied it in the morning. And, after lunch, I’ll go to the toilet and retouch it, knowing it’ll stay put till dinner. Isn’t that worth a little stickiness, ladies?

For summer, Senna has released two new shades, Bonfire and Sunstone. Bonfire is my favourite. Described as a “blood orange shine”, it is a bright reddish orange shade with a shiny cream finish (so no shimmers). One swipe will cover your lips in a layer of translucent and wearable colour, but of course you can always build it up for a more intense, fiery look.

Sunstone, instead, is a sheer golden amber shade infused with shimmers. Used alone, it provides just a subtle and warm hint of colour with a very sparkling finish. However, I prefer to use it on top of other cream glosses or lipsticks. After applying my lip colour, I’ll just dab a touch of Sunstone at the center of my lips to add some dimension and luminosity.

The texture of both glosses is very creamy and glides on the lips smoothly. Although not particularly moisturizing, they feel comfortable on the lips and don’t dry them out. Overall, I love these glosses. The colours are summery and beautifully enhance a tan. And because you need little for each application (and won’t have to retouch them often), they’re gonna last you forever.

Senna Lip Lacquers in Bonfire and Sunstone are buildable, shiny and have a creamy texture that glides on smoothly and feels comfortable on. They are sticky, but that’s why they last for ages on the lips.

Pretty packaging, but ugh .. I really dislike sticky lip glosses.

Monica, unfortunately that’s the price to pay for lasting power. It doesn’t bother me much, especially because these also feel quite comfortable on the lips. Still, if you can’t stand even the slightest hint of stickiness, you probably won’t enjoy these much.

I have these too and I especially like the Sunstone shade as I’m not really a fan of coral orange shades on the lips. Senna lip lacquers have always been great and I agree they are just a bit sticky but not as much as others are. I believe that because they are a bit sticky they tend to last longer than a normal non sticky lip gloss would and they are more comfortable to wear comparing to those heavy sticky glosses. For example I can’t wear the Bobbi Brown’s lip glasses, they are definitely sticker than Senna’s and even MAC Dazzleglasses have a sticker formula.

Tavia, these glosses are amazing, aren’t they? I agree with you that these aren’t overly sticky (definitely nowhere near MAC Dazzleglasses), but there are people who can’t stand even that. I, instead, think it’s a small price to pay for their incredible staying power, especially as they feel lovely on the lips.

It’s always a pleasure for me to try out Senna’s products since they are not available here. I must ask are they available in Italy? As far as I know they are US exclusive but I so want to see them in Europe too.

Tavia, unfortunately, no they aren’t. But I too hope to see them in European stores one day soon.
