Name: Professionals Smoothing Foundation Primer
From Pupa’s website:
Perfects the complexion by filling in and attenuating small wrinkles.
Makes skin matt and silkier looking.
Use on its own for a smooth, matt finish. Use before your makeup to enhance application and stay-on power.
What I liked:
– airbrushing effect
– temporarily reduces the appearances of small fine lines and wrinkles
– makes makeup last longer
– prepares skin for makeup
– silky texture
– matte, but not dull, finish
– the packaging
What I didn’t like:
– if you don’t like silicone-based primers, this is not for you
Pupa Professionals Smoothing Foundation Primer is available in two sizes: 15ml (€15,00) and 30ml (€28,10). I don’t consider primers (apart from eyeshadow primers, of course!) to be a necessity as I’m rarely out of the house all day and only use them for special occasions. That’s why I decided to get the mini-sized version, which is cheaper and also more travel-friendly.
The sleek and elegant glass bottle is slanted and see-through so you can see exactly how much product is left in it. It comes with a pump that only releases the right amount of product you need so none gets wasted.
The primer itself is transparent in color and has such a smooth and silky texture that I actually enjoy applying it on my skin! It goes on easily and absorbs quickly into the skin, laving it super soft and ready for makeup.
It delivers an airbrushing effect, making pores look smaller and reducing the appearance of fine lines and small wrinkles, thanks to the silicones (like Cyclopentasiloxane, which also helps other thicker silicones to deliver and disperse) that temporarily fill them in. Silicones also create a protective barrier on the skin and give it a soft, silky feeling. The finish is matte but skin doesn’t look dull.
The primer makes foundation go on more easily and evenly and not only it helps makeup last longer but I noticed it’s quite good at controlling oil as well. My t-zone doesn’t get shiny for several hours when I wear this.
Apart from the silicones, one of the main ingredients present in the formula is Tocopheryl Acetate, a form of Vitamin E, which has antioxidant properties. It also acts as a skin conditioning agent by restoring suppleness and enhancing the appearance of dry skin.
Overall, I love this primer. It has a silky texture that prepares skin for makeup as well as helping it last longer. It leaves skin soft and smooth and diminishes the appearance of fine lines and other small imperfections, but the effects are only temporary.
