issey miyake l'eau d'issey

Name: L’Eau D’Issey Eau De Toilette

What I liked:
– lovely aquatic floral scent
– unoffending scent that stays close to the skin
– can be worn anytime, anywhere
– neutral enough to be worn by men too
– good staying power

What I didn’t like:
– if you don’t like scents that stay close to the skin, this isn’t for you
– although lovely, it’s not really a memorable scent

It’s another hot summer day. She’s just woken up and small beads of sweat are already forming on her skin. Longing for refreshment, she puts on her swimming suit, skirt and shoes and heads out the door, towards the small valley in the middle of the forest. There, there’s a deep well of pure and clear spring water that streams down the hills to her little village.

She kicks off her shoes, takes off her skirt and slips into the water. As she swims, she can smell in the distance the delicate scent of flowers and trees that surround the spring water. But she can’t remain too long today. The air has just turned a little chiller, and she sees dark clouds on the horizon. Soon, it will rain.

It’s the scent of the springtime forest, with its clear spring water and fragrant flowers that Issey Miyake has tried to capture in the L’ Eau D’Issey, Eau De Toilette for women. Although marketed as a feminine scent, L’Eau D’Issey is so neutral that can it easily be worn by men too. It opens with transparent notes of lotus and freesia, sweetened by juicy melon. This last note smells just a little synthetic, but not enough to spoil the composition.

The heart is a bouquet of white flowers. Lily takes center stage, supported in the background by the more delicate aroma of peony and carnation. Finally, L’Eau D’Issey dries down to an elegant, but soft woody accord of cedar, sandal and musk.

Crisp, refreshing and natural, L’Eau D’Issey is an unoffensive scent that stays very close to the skin. It can be worn on any occasion, including at the office or in a crowded theatre without offending those around you, and is perfect for hot summer days when you want something light and refreshing. And for such a subtle scent, its staying power is tenacious. I get 8 hours of wear before it starts to fade away.

Issey Miyake L’Eau D’Issey Eau De Toilette is a refreshing and neutral aquatic floral scent that can be used anytime, anywhere, and by anyone. The fragrance is longlasting and stays very close to the skin. However, some people may find it too subtle.

Along with Aqua di Giò this is one of my all time favorite fragrance. Oh and in honor of the now gone Armani, I had a cat named Giò which we liked to call Gigi as well! 🙂 So true about Eau d’Issey that it stays close to the skin but this is what I liked about it. This makes it light and different. I’m out at the moment and miss it! 🙁

Icaria, it is a lovely scent, isn’t it? Scents that stay close to the skin are very handy as they can be worn on any occasion and I like that Issey Miyake has tried to do something different with this one rather than going down the same old light and sweet floral route like so many other designers. The aquatic notes are very refreshing, in every sense.

And what a cute name for a cat! 😉
