Dove is one of those underrated brands that rarely catch my eye. It doesn’t use bold packaging to stand out on the shelf or quirky names to spark your interest.
But it gets the job done without fuss. Case in point, Dove Intensive Nourishment Body Lotion. It’s a godsend for drier-than-the-Sahara skin. Here’s why:
What’s In Dove Intensive Nourishment Body Lotion?
Coconut oil is one of the most moisturising things on this planet. But it’s also greasy and comedogenic.
Enter Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride. It’s a derivative of coconut oil that retains all its moisturising properties without any of its side effects.
In other words, it keeps skin soft and smooth all day without the greasy factor and constant breakouts.

Glycerin is a moisture magnet. Literally.
Its job is to draw moisture from the air into the skin and keep it there. Your skin then uses all the extra moisture for all kinds of things:
- Plumping: The extra moisture fills in fine lines and wrinkles, so they look smaller
- Softening: The texture of your skin becomes softer to the touch
- Brightening: Moisture gives your skin that subtle, as if lit-from-within glow

Petrolatum is derived from petroleum – but it’s NOT petroleum. It undergoes a strict purifying process that removes all the toxic impurities, making it safe to use on your skin.
Petrolatum is in so many skincare products for two reasons. It’s super cheap. And super moisturising. It creates a barrier on the skin that keeps moisture in, helping to keep it soft and smooth for hours.
Dove Intensive Nourishment Body Lotion is white in color and has a lightweight, but not runny consistency that spreads easily. It absorbs quickly without leaving a greasy residue behind on your legs or clothes.
Your run-of-the-mill nice, clean scent.
How To Use It
Apply it every morning, right out of the shower or whenever you feel like your skin needs the extra moisture.

Performance & Personal Opinion
Usually, I stick to thick, rich creams for my dry skin. I’m always afraid that lighter lotions like Dove Intensive Nourishment Body Lotion aren’t up to the job. This time I was wrong.
The loion instantly makes skin softer and smoother. Even better, the effects last the entire day – no need to reapply it.
As much as I dig it, I’m still going back to my HG body moisturizer, The Body Shop Coconut Body Butter.
The Body Butter has a much richer texture, which may put some people off, but it is more moisturizing than the Dove one and makes my skin softer. And it has a wonderful, yummy coconut scent!
The Dove Lotion is already moisturizing enough for dry skin though, so which of the two to choose depends on your personal preference and budget.

I rarely buy products from Dove myself but I was thinking about their body lotion, too. I have a few but want to try something cheap 🙂
Marina, then this lotion would be a great option. It’s cheap but effective, even for very dry skin. 🙂
