Know Your Ingredients: Mandelic Acid

mandelic acid

What it is
Mandelic Acid, also known as amygdalic acid, is an alpha hydroxy acid.

What it does
Mandelic Acid is an exfoliant. It loosens the bonds that hold the skin cells together, thus allowing them to slough off, reveling the brighter and healthy skin underneath.
In addition, it has also germicidal activity.

Side effects
Mandelic Acid is sensitive to light so products that contain it should be stored in opaque containers away from the sun.
