Know Your Ingredients: Calcium Pantothenate

What it is
Calcium Pantothenate is the salt of pantothenic acid (vitamin B5). Also sometimes called pantothenic acid, it is naturally found in animal and plant tissue.

What it does
Calcium Pantothenate is a humectant: it attracts moisture to skin and hair, thus helping to keep them soft and hydrated.
One small study has also found it effective at treating acne.

Side effects
Calcium Pantothenate is generally considered to be safe.

Pantothenic sure sounds like a term for the Stone Ages :P. cool, I didn’t know the Vitamin [X] [#]’s had another name. Other than a letter and number. I appreciate that you keep writing these ingredients posts. I guess they’re a little more difficult to comment on since they’re so particular and precise that most people haven’t a funny or memorable experience to share about the last time they had a chat with a vitamin or some other ingredient haha. Point is, I’m sure you still have lots or readers :).

And I think you may be right there. I have to confess that even I, at times, wouldn’t know what comment to leave on this type of posts lol. But lots of people have said they’ve found them useful, so as long as there are ingredients to discuss, I’ll write about them. 🙂
