Don’t Forget To Apply Sunscreen To Your Hands

apply sunscreen to your hands

When you apply sunscreen in the morning, don’t forget to slather some on your hands – especially on the back.

Forget and you’re giving away your real age. You noticed your hands age faster than your face (or the rest of your body, for that matter)?

The reason is simple: just like your face, your hand is exposed to the sun and elements whenever you go out. And you’re not the safe indoors, either.

In case you didn’t get the memo, UV rays are so sneaky, they can get through clouds and windows. If you’re working in one of those modern offices with huge, floor-to-ceiling windows, wrinkles’ll get you faster.

That’s why you need to apply sunscreen to your face every day. To protect it from those sneaky UV rays – both in and out of your house/workplace.

But you often forget your hands, don’t you? I know because I’ve been there. I’d religiously slather sunscreen on my face as soon as I woke up… and totally forgot to apply a single drop to my hands. Ugh.

What’s the point of spending lots of money and time to have young-looking, smooth skin on your face if your wrinkly hands will give your real age away?

Be smart and apply sunscreen to your hands too. Your hands will thank you for it!

I always wear SPF 50 -100 on my hands!

beautifulwithbrains November 8, 2011 - 2:54 pm

Jamilla, that’s great! Our hands need to be protected from the sun too.

astrorainfall @ beauty box November 8, 2011 - 2:29 pm

I totally agree…and our chests as well…I watched an interview with supermodel Paulina Porizkova who said she wished she applied more sunscreen to her chest area because it got much wrinkles much faster than her face and neck which she was careful with.

beautifulwithbrains November 8, 2011 - 2:59 pm

Astrorainfall, I agree. Our chests are another place where we often forget to apply sunscreen and it is so important to apply it there too. We should just slather it on on all parts of our body exposed to the sun if we don’t want one area to age faster than the rest.

I totally agree with you! I try to re-apply sunscreen as frequently as possible especially when I am outside.

beautifulwithbrains November 10, 2011 - 10:37 am

Harshlees, that’s great! It’s so important to wear sunscreen every day and reapply it throughout the day, especially when going outside.

Oh gosh, I hate having sunscreen on my hands.

beautifulwithbrains November 10, 2011 - 10:38 am

Ashley, I can see why. Some sunscreens are so greasy and uncomfortable when applied on the hands. But if you don’t want them to age faster than the rest of your body, then wearing sunscreen there is a must. Maybe apply most of it on the back of your hands, as that’s the part that gets the most exposure.

Amanda November 9, 2011 - 8:56 am

I apply sunscreen on my hands, but it seems that they are still aging in their own way 🙁

beautifulwithbrains November 10, 2011 - 10:39 am

Amanda, oh no! But it’s great that you apply sunscreen anyway, that will at least slow down the aging process.

Gaye November 9, 2011 - 2:52 pm

I have no time to put some sunscreen on my hand.

beautifulwithbrains November 10, 2011 - 12:51 pm

Gaye, that is really a shame. You should try to apply some on your hands just after you put some on your face if you don’t want them to age faster than the rest of your bodies. It may seem like a unnecessary thing now, but you’ll see a great difference in 10 years’ time if you apply it.

Jeni November 10, 2011 - 7:14 am

I used to be so proud that I had super smooth, young looking hands. I don’t know what happened, but all of these wrinkles showed up on my hands one day and they aged 10 years overnight! I never, ever wore sunscreen on them until a few years ago, so it’s no surprise I guess:(

beautifulwithbrains November 10, 2011 - 10:41 am

Jeni, oh no, I’m sorry to hear that. Sadly, that’s what happens when we don’t wear sunscreen since we’re little and it’s even more unfortunate that the full benefits of sunscreen were ignored by most people until a few years ago..

isabella November 11, 2011 - 9:43 am

You are certainly right! Applying sunscreen to the hands can help delay the aging of the hands…

beautifulwithbrains November 11, 2011 - 10:35 am

Isabella, that’s so true. We should all remember to apply sunscreen to our hands to prevent premature aging.

Adia November 12, 2011 - 3:44 pm

ahh I hope it’s not too late to wear sunscreen , I never take care of my skin.
Now my hands have those wrinkles :/

beautifulwithbrains November 13, 2011 - 9:34 pm

Adia, then you should start applying it to your hands now to prevent the wrinkles getting worse. You can also try a cream with retinoids to reduce some of the damage, but it’ll take a few months to see results..

Adia November 14, 2011 - 7:41 am

OMG thank you so much , I’ll try to find it 😀

beautifulwithbrains November 14, 2011 - 8:32 am

Adia, you’re welcome. 🙂

kim November 21, 2011 - 11:04 am

Sunscreen is a big help to a lot of people to protect our skin. That’s is why i always apply sunscreen lotion before going out. This is also one of the best way prevent skin cancer because of the sun’s heat.

beautifulwithbrains November 21, 2011 - 6:45 pm

Kim, I couldn’t agree more!
