Did you know that you can make your own lipsticks using mineral makeup? It is very easy and when you’re done you’ll have a beautiful and unique color! All you need is a clear lipgloss or lip balm and some mineral blushes or eyeshadows.
I used Deborah Wild Jungle lipgloss in Pure Crocodile, which is a clear shiny gloss, and one of my favourite mineral blushes, Lumiere Blushing Bronzer in Sugarberry. But you can substitute the gloss with lip balm and use any mineral blushes or eyeshadows you want. You can also mix two or more shades of blush or eyeshadow with balm/gloss, the possibilities are endless!
I put some of the gloss on the back of my hand (but you can also use a jar to mix the products) and added some powder. How much powder to add is up to you. If you’re going for a sheer color just use a tiny amount, while if you prefer your lip colors pigmented, keep adding the powder until you’re satisfied with the intensity of the shade. The important thing is that you keep mixing the colors until you get a creamy consistency.
And voilà, you have your own custom lipstick! Mine turned out to be a shiny, nude, your-lips-but-better shade that I really like. I don’t have anything similar in my stash because it is not a color I would wear often. So it’s nice to know I can just make it with products I already have instead of buying a new lipstick that I know I won’t use much.
Just like any other lip color, you can apply it with a lip brush or using your fingers, but make sure they’re clean!
Have you ever tried to make your own lipstick? Are you going to? Let me know in the comments, I’d love to hear your experiences. 🙂
