EDIT 2014: after learning that orange juice can irritate skin, especially sensitive, I don’t recommend these recipes anymore.
Exfoliation is an important, sometimes underrated, step in your skincare routine. It removes the dead skin cells on the surface, leaving skin softer and brighter, unclogs the pores and can even help reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. There are plenty of good exfoliants on the market but if you are ever in the mood for making one yourself, here are a couple of recipes for you to try.
1. Orange and Cornmeal Scrub
– juice of 1/2 orange
– 1/4 of cornmeal (in alternative, you can use oatmeal)
Put the ingredients into a bowl and mix them together to form a paste. Massage it on your face for about 3 minutes and then rinse it off.
2. Orange and Almond Scrub
– 1 orange peel
– a handful of almonds
– 1 cup of grapeseed oil
Mix all the ingredients together in a blender and massage the mixture on your entire body for a couple of minutes. Then, rinse off. (Thanks to Self for this recipe).
Have you ever tried an orange scrub?
