My Fave Skincare Products Of 2017

by Gio

Hello, gorgeous!

Can you believe 2017 is almost over? Time flies so fast when you’re having fun.

I like to take the last few days of the year to reminisce about what went right and wrong, what I learned and what I loved. And there are few things I love more than skincare (I know, what a surprise!).

So today, I want to take a trip down memory lane and tell you all about the best skincare products I’ve tried this year:

NEOSTRATA SMOOTH SURFACE DAILY PEEL ($70.00)

I debated whether to include this here because Neostrata Smooth Surface Daily Peel has alcohol and you all know that can be drying. But, as a moisturiser can easily fix that, I don’t see why you should miss out on all its goodness. The pads use glycolic acid to exfoliate your skin, hydrate it and boost collagen production. They leave your skin softer, make your fine lines look smaller and give your complexion a beautiful glow. The best part? You need to soak the pads yourself so you’ll know you won’t risk them drying out before you’ve finished the box.

NIOD COPPER AMINO ISOLATE SERUM ($48.00/£38.00)

I can’t wait to try the new and upgraded version (stay tuned, review coming soon!) but I loved the “old” Niod Copper Amino Isolate Serum this year. Its job is to keep your skin in a constant state of repair and ensure that everything is working smoothly. That’s why you notice a bigger difference when you stop using it. All of a sudden you’re like, “what’s going on with my skin now?” I wouldn’t call it a necessity but if you got the extra budget, go for it.

INDEED LABS RETINOL REFACE (£19.90)

If you’re serious about antiaging, check out Indeed Labs Retinol Reface. It uses TWO forms of vitamin A – retinol and hydroxypinacolone retinoate – to fight free radicals, boost collagen and speed up the skin’s natural exfoliating process. It’s one of the most powerful OTC retinol creams I’ve found – but not one of the most moisturizing. I usually apply an oil afterwards to seal it in and moisturise my skin.

THE ORDINARY NATURAL MOISTURIZING FACTORS + HA ($4.90)

The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA is one of those ordinary products no one pays attention to until it’s too late and your skin’s all dry and flaky. Natural Moisturizing Factors is a catch-all term for all those substances that make up your skin’s protective barrier. This cream repairs it when it’s broken and strengthens it when it’s intact, keeping your skin soft and healthy all winter long.

NIOD LOW-VISCOSITY CLEANING ESTER (£30.00)

I have a $20 rule for cleansers: if it costs more than that, I ain’t buy it. Niod Low-Viscosity Cleaning Ester made me break it. It’s. That. Good. It uses an innovative mix of sugar and avocado esters to break down UV filters, melt away oils and remove every last trace of dirt and makeup from your skin without drying it out. It does the job quickly and leave your skin sooooo soft!

INDEED LABS VITAMIN C24 22% + 2% VITAMIN C CREAM (£24.99)

Sensitive skin, look away. Indeed Labs Vitamin C24 22% + 2% Vitamin C Cream uses L-Ascorbic Acid, the most powerful form of vitamin C.  L-Ascorbic Acid fights wrinkles, boosts collagen and fades dark spots but can irritate sensitive skin. It’s also very unstable and goes bad quickly. To stabilise it, Indeed Labs has taken all the water out of it. Instead, vitamin C is nestled in a silicone blend that applies smoothly and leaves your skin silky soft and radiant.

ZELENS POWER C HIGH POTENCY VITAMIN C TREATMENT DROPS ($210.00/£125.00)

If pure vitamin C is too irritating for you or you don’t like the idea of using silicones, Zelens Power C High Potency Vitamin C Treatment Drops is a wonderful alternative to consider. It uses ascorbyl tetraisopalmitate, a derivative of vitamin C that’s gentler and stabler. It also penetrate skin super fast so vitamin C can work even better. It costs an arm and a leg, I know, but it’ll boost your collagen, fight wrinkles and give your skin a beautiful, radiant glow.

Available at: Cult Beauty and Barneys

PIZ BUIN ULTRA LIGHT DRY TOUCH FACE FLUID SPF 30 (£9.00)

You know me, I love my mineral sunscreens. But if you stick to chemical sunscreens, go with Piz Buin Ultra Light Dry Touch Face Fluid. It’s soooo lightweight, not sticky and doesn’t leave a greasy residue behind. The texture’s on the runny side and makes it so easy to apply a small glass shot (the recommended amount for face and neck). It’s everything a sunscreen should be, I tell you.
