Meet Anatomicals, The Cheekiest Brand You’ll Ever Use

Do you believe the 3 essentials in life are sex, going out and generally living your all too short life to the full?

If so, you’ll get along splendidly with Anatomicals, the quirky, brightly-coloured British brand that only wants you for your body (that’s their slogan).

Anatomicals is all about getting rid of those spots, dark circles, headaches and all that nasty stuff that happens when you’re enjoying your life to the max and giving your flawless complexion back so you can go out and do it all again in style.

Just my kind of brand, really.

I’ve got to play with a few of their products lately. I’m talking abut the Face Care mask set, the Oi! You Throbhead Headache Relief Balm and Stop Cracking Up Lip Balm (don’t you want to get them just for their cheeky names – or is that just me?).

Face Care From Worrying Complex To Wonderful Complexion

This is a fun little set that features two face masks – Hawaii Five-Glow Tropical Hydrating Face Mask and The Hottie Tottie Is Never Spotty Anti-Blemish Face Mask – and a scrub – “Get Outta My Face, Dirtball!” Apricot Face Scrub”.

You can buy all of them separately, but I much prefer sets. I feel like I’m getting a bigger bang for my buck (or quid, in the UK) that way. Don’t you?

Hawaii Five-Glow Tropical Hydrating Face Mask

When I first got the set, I thought the Hawaii Mask was for hydrating dry skin, but turns out, it’s for oily skin instead (cos oily skin needs hydration, too, you know?).

What gave it away were kaolin and bentonite, two types of clay that absorb excess oil and impurities from the skin so they don’t end up clogging the pores.

Getting rid of oil is awesome when you have too much of it, but if your skin barely produces any, that’ll just dry it out even more. My skin is combo, so I used this on my shiny t-zone. It wasn’t so shiny anymore when the mask was done with it 15 minutes later.

Plus, it left my skin soft and hydrated. That’s because, while the clays were doing their job, glycerin attracted water from the environment all the way into my skin while shea butter locked it all in.

This mask is also a bit different from your usual clay masks because it’s white, lightweight and surprisingly easy to wash off.

But you know what I liked the most? The scent. This stuff smells like a tropical paradise. Where’s my coconut drink?

The Hottie Tottie Is Never Spotty Anti-Blemish Face Mask

I’m not sure I’m a hottie tottie but I definitely am spotty from time to time. This mask uses the same clays – kaolin and bentonite – as the hydrating mask. Again, they absorb oil and impurities to prevent breakouts.

There’s also some evening primrose oil in here to reduce the redness that always comes along with pimples. It’s very soothing and probably counteracts the effects of the alcohol, too. I wasn’t thrilled to see that one here, but I guess it helps to make the mask so light and easy to wash off (this one is white, too, by the way).

This mask wasn’t as hydrating as the Hawaii one, but it still helped me to keep oil production under control and avoid shininess. And yep, it left my skin softer too. Just not as soft as the hydrating mask. And the sweet scent with herbal whiffs? Divine.

“Get Outta My Face, Dirtball!” Apricot Face Scrub

I love love love this name. Isn’t this what we all think when we see some grime on our skin, “Get outta my face, dirtball!”?

Too bad I’m not a big fan of scrubs. Especially when they contain apricot. I just find them potentially too harsh for the skin. Scrub a few minutes more than longer and you end up with a red and irritated rather than glowy and smooth face.

I guess that’s why I tend to be pretty quick with scrubs. Like, I rinse them away after a minute or so. That was enough to give me softer and smoother skin without the side effects.

I’ll keep using it until I run out (there’s enough in the sachets for three or four uses) just cos I hate waste and then I’ll go back to my beloved glycolic acid. But if you dig apricot scrubs, you may like this one, too. Just use it carefully,

Oh, did I mention how delicious the fruity scent is?

anatomicals-headache-balm-relief

Oi! You Throbhead Headache Relief Balm

I rarely have headaches. But when I do, I shut the windows close, turn the lights off and just lie in bed.  I don’t like to take drugs if I can avoid it. I find silence and complete darkness help a bit, so I’m sticking with that.

At least, I did until Oi! Your Throbhead Headache Relief Balm came into my life. I admit it, I was sceptical at first. Until I did my research and found out that rubbing peppermint oil on your temples can really relieve headaches. Lavender oil gives it a helping hand – when you inhale it.

This balm contains both. You can definitely smell the mintness as soon as you open the jar – a mile away! I find that alone to be slightly soothing.

When I have a headache, I simply rub it into my temples and pulse points. Its slightly waxy but non-sticky consistency glides smoothly on my skin and moisturizes it, too (thanks, olive oil!)

But, does it relieve headaches? Yep, for like 20 minutes. That’s much better than nothing when you have a headache. Definitely better than drugs. I just keep reapplying it until it goes away completely.

Stop Cracking Up Lip Balm

I had totally forgotten I had bought and reviewed this years ago (duh!). That happens when you’re a beauty junkie, I guess.

Anyway, I’ll keep this short and sweet. This lip balm is every bit as moisturizing as you expect a lip balm to be, has a shiny lipgloss finish and tastes like sugar. Yummy!

Now I remember why I ran out of it so quickly last time. 😉

If you like fun skincare that delivers without breaking the bank, I’m sure Anatomicals will soon become one of your fave brands.

I’ve definitely bought makeup for it’s name before. Bright green eyeshadow called “Up All Night to Get Loki”, a glittering brown called “Getting Wood”, and it’s auburn brother, “Full of Craft”. A brand with clever names is usually a good way to catch my attention. ^_^ Although, lately I’ve been taken by a few things named after the sheer ridiculousness of American life… because… well, read our news sometime. Just the Adventures of Florida Man alone is just… outlandish. ::facepalm::

They’re awesome, right. I wish more brands used sassy names like these.
