OK, ok, I know last month I said I’ve found my HG shower oil/gel and couldn’t imagine using anything else again. But, I also said I would stray every now and then, just cos I like to try new stuff all the time, you know? So, no, I don’t feel bad for trying the new Yes To range of body washes so soon.
There are 4 body washes in the range, but I’ve only tried two of them, Yes To Cucumbers Soothing Body Wash, and Yes To Grapefruit Rejuvenating Body Wash.
Both shower gels are very similar. They have a lightweight, gel-like consistency that foams very little but spreads easily on the skin, removing all kinds of dirt and impurities. They work thanks to cocamidopropyl betaine and sodium coco sulfate, two cleansing agents derived from coconut oil.
I was quite surprised to see the latter here, to be honest. Sodium coco sulfate is very similar to sodium lauryl sulfate, which, as we all know is very irritating. Sodium coco sulfate is less so, though, but may still be a concern for those with very sensitive skin.
I’m relieved to report both body washes didn’t irritate my skin, probably because the rest of the formulas contain hydrating agents like glycerin that “soften” the harshness of sodium coco sulfate and make it safe for use. This is proof that you can’t judge a product based on just one ingredient.
These are body washes, so there really isn’t much else to say about them. All that’s left to talk about is the scent. Yes To Cucumbers Soothing Body Wash smells of green tea and cucumber. It’s fresh and relaxing, if you like cucumbers. I admit I’m not their biggest fan.
But, I’d say Yes To Grapefruit anyday. It’s citrusy, zesty, and uplifting. Just the kind of scent that makes me start the day energized and happy. But, then, I’ve always been a sucker for anything citrusy.
