and happy Sunday! Grab a cup of coffee, sit down and enjoy this week’s random ramblings:
Jane Austen Necklace
I totally forgot to show you the necklace my boyfriend gave me for our 11th anniversary in January. Isn’t it lovely? It’s a beautiful resin cameo cabochon featuring a Jane Austen quote, “Our pleasures in this world are always to be paid for”, set in an antique style red gothic frame. The quote is from her book Northanger Abbey. It’s my least favourite of her works, but I do love this sentence. It is just so true, isn’t it? I really love this necklace and it made me want to buy more Jane Austen related jewellery in the future. I actually already have my eye on a couple of beautiful pieces on etsy. I’ll show them if I get them. 😉
What I’m Reading Now
The Big Four by Agatha Christie. If you’re a regular reader of my blog, you know how much I love both Agatha Christie and Poirot but this book is an insult to the Belgian detective. When a man, covered in dust, appears at Poirot’s bedroom door, the detective and his faithful friend Hastings find themselves enveloped into an international intrigue. The two will have to stop The Big Four, the most powerful criminal organization that ever existed, that’s planning to rule the world. However, the whole plot is a farce. Poirot continually finds himself in dangerous situations that are one more absurd than the other, and the way he escapes them is likewise too simple and too hard to believe. The big, final climax is also unrealistic and thus disappointing. This is not up to Christie’s standards at all. I appreciate that she was trying to experiment with new mystery stories, but sometimes you should just stick to what you can do best and, in her case, that was murder mystery stories. Those I wholeheartedly recommend, but The Big Four you can skip.

Sunday Survey, Vol.148
Today’s Sunday Survey is yet another tag! I have been tagged a lot recently and I love it. This time, my friend Icaria tagged me to answer these 11 questions. Here we go:
1. What is your current favourite skin care product? The product you can’t live without?
Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser. It takes everything off and yet it is very gentle on the skin, leaving it soft and clean. And it also performs a gentle exfoliating action.
2. What would you say is your best facial feature? What do you emphasise most?
I love my green eyes, even though they are quite small.
3. What is your favourite book of all time? Or what is your favourite movie of all time?
I can’t just pick one book! Mmm… I love Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen and The House Of Mirth by Edith Wharton. But Mistress Of The Revolution by Catherine Delors is very good too…
Favourite movie… I’ll have to pick Moulin Rouge. I just love musicals and there’s everything in this one: romance, jealousy, drama, music, dancing, beautiful costumes….
4. Name 3 makeup or beauty items you always keep with you at all times.
A lip balm, oil-blotting sheets and sunscreen.
5. Loose powder or compact powder?
Compact powder. It’s more practical.
6. Lipstick, do you find yourself going for neutral colors or bold colors?
Neutral colours. I usually prefer to emphasize my eyes so I like to keep the rest of the face toned down.
7. Do you use a lip liner?
Rarely. Only when I’m wearing some bold red or dark lip shades.
8. What is your signature dish? Or what is your favourite dish?
I don’t really have a signature dish as I’m an awful cook, but I love to eat my mom’s lasagne. 🙂
9. Do you wear nail polish? If yes, do you have a favourite brand?
Yes. I don’t have a favourite brand though. I like to try new nail polishes all the time.
10. At what age did you start wearing makeup?
I think I’m supposed to come up with 10 different questions, but as you’ve always answered the same ones as me in my Sunday Survey posts, I’ll break the rules and ask you to answer these ones too. 😉 As always, I tag everyone who wants to do this!
