Name: Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner
From Stila’s website:
Finally a waterproof liquid liner that glides on with ease, won’t smudge or run, and stays in place until you say when! The thin marker-like tip is easy to use even for the least experienced, and delivers a defined thin line to a dramatic bold line with precision. Goes on smoothly without skipping, smudging, or pulling, and lasts all day!
What I liked:
– intense black colour
– thin felt tip allows you to create both thin and thick lines
– glides smoothly on the lid
– longlasting, doesn’t smudge
– sleek packaging
– easy to take off with an oil-based makeup remover
What I didn’t like:
– if you are a newbie at liquid eyeliner application, you’ll need some practice to get the hang of it
I haven’t paid much attention to Stila this past couple of years. The brand’s been having some sort of creative crisis, releasing underwhelming collections that were more pricy than interesting. But they do have some lovely stuff. Like the Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner, a gift from my friend Janessa.
I admit that, hadn’t it been for her, I wouldn’t have tried it. And not just because Stila has been flying under my radar lately. No, it’s because liquid eyeliners are the bane of my makeup life. Usually, when I try to use them, I tend to draw lines that are too thick. Rather than with a lovely cat flick, I end up with a panda-like mess. Not cool! 🙁
I thought I had mastered the art of applying liquid eyeliners with a felt tip applicator, but Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner required some practice.
That’s because the tip, which glides smoothly on the lid, is a bit too long and thin, and so a bit more flexible than I was used to. But if you’re better than me at applying liquid eyeliner (and that doesn’t take much), using this will be a breeze for you.
And the size of the tip makes it so easy to draw thin, rich black lines. But, of course, you can always draw thinner ones, if you so prefer. Whatever you draw, though, will stay put for ages. If your lids are dry, then, true to its name, this eyeliner stays put from morning till night.
But on my somewhat oily lids, a primer is necessary to make it last that long. On its own, it lasts 9 hours before it starts to fade. And even then, it doesn’t smudge. Impressive, isn’t it?
I haven’t tested it in the shower or at the pool, but a water based makeup remover does struggle to take it off. It is doable, but you have to use quite a bit of product. An oil-based remover, instead, does the job quickly and efficiently. No need to tug at the delicate eye area. 🙂
Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner has a thin, quite flexible felt tip that allows you create both thin and thick rich black lines that last for hours. But if you’re a newbie, you’ll need some practice to learn how to apply it properly.
