Oh boy, my makeup has become so boring!
Like, I can’t even remember the last time I did a smokey eye. It’s too much fuss. Plus, the risk of looking like you’ve just been punched in the eye is always around the corner.
That’s what happened when I first used Rouge Bunny Rouge Long Lasting Duo Cream Eyeshadow in Birdwing Beauteous.
I made the mistake of applying the bold silvery black straight from the wand. I’ll spare you the photos but it wasn’t a good look. The black is so intense, trying to blend it out was a pain.
The second time I used it, I was smarter. I applied it to the back of my hand first and then used a brush to paint my lids. I use less product that way so the result is more natural.
Still intense (I mean, this is a smokey look), but at least now no one’s asking me if I got into a catfight. Nope, they just compliment me on how pretty my makeup looks.
The other shade’s more natural. It’s a pretty champagne gold I use to highlight my browbone. Like the black hue, it has a stunning metallic finish that makes my eyes sparkle beautifully, especially when the light hits them.
The metallic finish gives the eyeshadows that pretty foiled look I love so much but could never be bothered to achieve with pigments (yes, lazy bugger here). Now, that’s all done for me.
Their texture is so smooth, they glide so easily on the skin and blend like a dream. But what really wowed me was how long they last.
I can count on the fingers of my hand the number of cream eyeshadows that don’t crease within 10 minutes on my slightly oily lids. These don’t. Yes, they fade a little during the day if you forget to use a primer first, but you don’t end up with eyeshadow pooling in the creases of your eyes. Phew!
Birdwing Beauteous makes doing a smokey eye so easy, I may actually be bothered to wear the look a lot more often.
