Name: Teint Ideal Powder Foundation
From Vichy’s website:
Evens out the skintone and corrects imperfections.
What I liked:
– light to medium coverage, evens out the skintone and hides small imperfections
– luminous natural finish
– powder is finely-milled, smooth to the touch, and easy to apply
– helps absorb excess oil
– doesn’t dry out dry skin
– pretty and practical packaging
– good staying power
What I didn’t like:
– if you need full coverage, this isn’t for you
– only three shades available
What’s your least favourite type of foundation? Mine is powder. I never pay attention to them when I shop for a new foundation. Liquid formulas are just so much easier to apply and look more natural on. Powders, instead, if you’re not careful can give such an unnatural, cakey look! Ugh!
But I recently found a powder foundation that doesn’t do that: Vichy Teint Ideal. It was given me by a friend who has way too many foundations so the colour, medium, isn’t a good match for my skintone. It’s way too dark for me but, with only three shades available, I doubt I’d be able to find one that suited my pale skin. Isn’t it annoying when brands only make a bunch of foundation shades? What’s the point of creating a good formula if only a few people can use it? *sighs*
Colour apart, the finish is very natural and slightly luminous without being shimmering. Coverage is only light to medium, so the powder can only even out the skintone and minimize redness and small blemishes. If you have stubborn dark circles or imperfections that require heavy-duty coverage, this will disappoint.
Instead, Vichy Teint Ideal Powder Foundation is more suitable for young women with oily skin who have pretty good skin to begin with. It will help them achieve a flawless look while absorbing excess oil. What if you have dry skin? The foundation didn’t accentuate the dry spots on my skin, and its absorbing properties didn’t dry it out even more. That’s good news, but I still wouldn’t recommend it to them. Why? Because dry skin would benefit more from a liquid, more moisturizing formula that can give them that little extra boost of moisture it so badly needs.
The powder, which lasts more than 10 hours on my skin, is finely milled and smooth to the touch. It is easy to apply with the small square white sponge included in the compact, which fits well into all the nooks and crannies of the face. Like all sponges, though, it gets dirty pretty quickly, so it needs to be washed frequently. The rectangular compact also contains a big mirror which makes application easier wherever you are.
