Name: Midnight Cowboy Rides Again Eyeshadow
Brand: Urban Decay
From Urban Decay’s website:
Soft, amazingly velvety texture
Rich, dense and decadent color
Smooth, uniform pigment distribution and blendability
Long-lasting, crease-free wear
What I liked:
– great colour payoff
– if you love glitter, this is for you
– texture is not too gritty and blends easily
What I didn’t like:
– glitter needs a sticky primer to stay put
– you’ll have to deal with quite a bit of fallout
Shimmer, I love. Glitter? No so much. Those glitter particles tend to fall out like crazy, ending up all over your face. And even when they stay on the eyes, they usually glow too much for my taste. I like to shine, just not as much as a disco ball.
That’s why I had always stayed away from Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Midnight Cowboy Rides Again, until a friend recently allowed me to try a sample. The colour is gorgeous. It’s a light, pink champagne shade with silver glitter. It looks quite tame in the pan, but when you start to apply it, this midnight cowboy can get a bit wild.
When you apply it on your bare lids or on top of a regular primer, like Urban Decay Primer Potion or Too Faced Shadow Insurance, you get quite a bit of fallout. It’s not as bad as most glitter eyeshadows, but it’s annoying all the same. But, at least, applied this way, the glitter isn’t too obvious. Sure, it makes your eyes sparkle, but you don’t get the disco-ball effect. You do get great colour payoff, though. This stuff is quite pigmented.
To make the glitters stay put on the lid and not fallout, you can use a sticky base like Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy or Too Faced Shadow Insurance Glitter Glue. Used like this, the pigmentation of the eyeshadow doesn’t change much, but the glitter effect is now really bold and over-the-top. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. If that’s how you like your glitter, you will love Midnight Cowboy Rides Again.
Although the texture isn’t silky smooth, it, surprisingly, didn’t feel that gritty either. And it is very easy to blend. Unless you used a ton of sticky base, in which case you’ll struggle. But you can’t blame the eyeshadow for that. Well, maybe a little bit. Plus, the base will also help Urban Decay Midnight Cowboy Rides Again to stay put from morning till night, but, even without, I get 6 hours of wear before I start noticing some fading and creasing. I thought that was impressive as I expected it to last a lot less!
Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Midnight Cowboy Rides Again is a light pink champagne shade with silver glitter. To avoid most of the fallout, it should be applied on top of a sticky base. That way, though, you’ll get a disco ball effect. Both colour payoff and staying power are good.
