What I liked:
– lipstick is available in lots of shades
– CR 330 is very flattering on warm skintones
– creamy and moisturizing texture
– good colour payoff
– pretty and practical packaging
What I didn’t like:
– CR 330 is not flattering on most cool-toned skintones
– can settle into fine lines
– poor staying power
Who else finds the coding of Shu Uemura shades very confusing? CR 330 sounds more like the name of a Star Wars robot than a luxurious lipstick colour (although the transparent packaging has a futuristic vibe to it, so I guess it fits). It doesn’t help that the descriptions sometimes are off too.
Shu Uemura describes CR 330, one of the 27 shades of Rouge Unlimited, as a medium grapefruit pink, but it looks more like a soft peachy coral on the lips. They got the undertone right, though. It is very warm, so cool-toned gals will struggle to pull it off. At least when applied, in all its pigmented brightness, straight from the tube.
After only a hour or so, the lipstick has turned into a sheer tint, more suitable even for those who, like me, have neutral undertones that tend slightly to the cooler end of the spectrum, and is perfect for daytime. Still, it’s on warm-toned ladies that this springy shade truly shines, making their complexion look brighter and fresher.
Although the tint is very pretty, I can’t help but be disappointed that the lipstick loses its intensity so soon, and is completely gone after a couple of hours, even if you don’t eat or drink. For $30.00, I expected something that doesn’t disappear faster than a melting popsicle.
But I guess that’s the price to pay for its creaminess. Rouge Unlimited has a smooth, very moisturizing texture that glides easily on the lips, and feels very comfortable on. You still need to prep your lips well, though, because CR 330 has the tendency to settle into fine lines.
Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited in CR 330 is a warm and soft peachy coral shade that’s very flattering on warm-toned gals. It’s pigmented and creamy, but doesn’t last long.
