Brand: Rouge Bunny Rouge
What I liked:
– lovely bitter-sweet citrusy green fragrance
– tame, can be worn everywhere
– beautiful bottle
What I didn’t like:
– if you don’t like citrsuy green scents, this is not for you
– doesn’t last very long
She’s standing at the edge of the forest, gazing at you intently. She mumbles a few words, but you can’t hear what she says. You’re too far away. Then, she turns and runs away. Your curiosity is piqued. She has cast her incantation on you, and you can’t help but raise to your feet and follow her, to wherever she may lead you.
As you step into the woods, the light dims. The sky isn’t getting darker, but the trees are so thick, they are letting only a faint light in. A light breeze is in the air, carrying with it the bitter scent of citrus fruits, whose darkness is intensified by green notes. But in its heart, you can smell the faint aroma of sweet fig leaves and blackcurrent.
She knows you’re still following her, and her pace slows down. So does yours. Soon, you end up in a clearing, an open space filled with fragrant flowers. A citrusy note still hangs in the air, but is now a lot more flowery. Some orange blossoms are blooming at the edge of the clearing. Spicy coriander and cardamom give an effervescent touch to this bright accord, but it is the sweetness of the rose that takes center stage.
There’s no rush. You can still see her ahead of you, so you take your time in the clearing to enjoy its beauty and its perfume. But slowly, you make your way out of it. The trees here are less thick. Cedar mostly. Musk and bushes of vetiver abound. Yet, it doesn’t feel like you’re in a wood. The smell in the air is dry and somewhat sensual, but it’s not that woody smell that you associate with these notes. But that’s not a bad thing.
Then, you raise your eyes. She’s gone. You scan the forest but she’s nowhere to be found. Judging by the shadows, you’ve been following her for about five hours. You can still smell her scent in the air, but it is faint, and you’ll know it’ll soon fade. The journey was too short, but you still had fun. Thanks to her spell, you explored a beautiful forest. And now it’s time to come back home.
That’s Rouge Bunny Rouge Incantation. It is a perfect harmony of citrusy and green notes with some woody notes thrown in for good measure. Bitter at the beginning, sweet at the heart, and dry in the drydown. It beautifully evokes images of the outdoors on a bright summer day. It’s lovely, and very safe. It doesn’t shout its presence, and tends to stay quite close to the skin. I just wish it lasted longer.
Rouge Bunny Rouge is a tame but beautiful bouquet of citrus fruits and green notes. But staying power is short.
