Name: Lash Power
From N.6’s website:
Stimulates lash growth. Enriched with a mix of plants-based actives associated to a new generation peptide, Lash Powder lengthens and thickens lashes within a month.
What I liked:
– provides a natural, everyday look
– doesn’t clump
– good staying power, doesn’t smudge
– pretty and eyecatching packaging
– the price
What I didn’t like:
– doesn’t add volume
– thick wand makes it difficult to reach the tiniest lashes
– available only in Italy
Packaged in a shiny, metallic, bright green tube, N.6 Lash Power Mascara is sure to attract attention. And so does its boasting. It claims to thick and volumize lashes within a month. How? The secret is not in the thick wand, which actually makes it difficult, for ladies with small eyes like me, to reach the tiniest lashes.
The black pigment is dark, but not too intense, and when covered with it, lashes do look a bit longer, but not that thicker. This stuff barely adds any volume at all. But at least it doesn’t clump lashes together. A couple of coats delivers a natural look that’s perfect for school or the office, and that stays put for most of the day, without smudging. I only reapply it in the late afternoon.
However, this mascara may be a slow worker. The formula contains Apigenin, Biotinyl Tripeptide-1, and Oleanolic Acid, three ingredients that affect hair growth. Apigenin is a flavonoid found in many vegs and fruits. A 2009 study performed on animals has shown that it can stimulate hair growth by downregulating the TGF-β1 gene, which influences the catagen (resting) phase of hair growth, so that hair remains in the anagen (growth) phase longer. However, we don’t know if these findings apply to humans, or even how much of it is needed to stimulate hair growth.
Biotinyl Tripeptide-1, which is made up of Biotin and 3 amino acid residues, is said, by Sederma, the company that produces a growth ingredient made up of all these three actives, to extend the anagen phase too. However, I couldn’t find any independent studies confirming this. Finally, Oleanolic Acid, also plant-based, has been found in a 1995 study to inhibit 5α-reductase, an enzyme that causes dihydrotestosterone, which, is responsible for male pattern baldness.
What does all this mean? Well, in theory, N.6 Lash Power Mascara, should, with continuous use, help make your lashes longer. In practice, there’s not convincing proof yet that these ingredients work on humans, and, even if they do, their concentrations here are so small, they’d work very, very slowly.
Did I see any improvement? Nope, but then I didn’t use it everyday. I prefer to use mascaras that provide that dramatic, almost false lashes look, with just one or two coats. Everyday, natural mascaras have their uses, though, so if you’re in the market for one, this would be a great option to consider. But I’m doubtful it can provide more than that.

N.6 Lash Power Mascara doesn’t add volume, but lengthens lashes, providing a natural look that’s perfect for work, school and everyday errands. The mascara doesn’t clump nor smudge, and staying power is ok. However, the thick wand makes it difficult to reach the tiniest lashes.
