Name: Miss Pupa in Bikini
From Pupa’s website:
A gelée, sensorial and very smooth texture that enhances the volume of the lips, leaving them soft and captivating. On the lips, an extraordinary crystal effect, an incredible, semi-transparent wet finish and comfort without compare.
What I liked:
– sheer but buildable colour payoff
– if you’re looking for a soft, newbie-friendly orange shade, this is for you
– smooth and fairly moisturizing texture
– average staying power
– packaging looks pretty and sleek
What I didn’t like:
– if you like vivid and bright orange shades, this is not for you
– needs to be reapplied throughout the day
– if you own more than one shade, you have to check the bottom to find the one you’re looking for
Orange is the perfect shade for summer. It’s bright. It’s cheerful. And it’s fresh. But let’s face it: it’s not the easiest shade to pull off. The wrong orange shade can easily make you look sallow and sick, while vivid and intense hues can attract too much attention to your pout, leaving you feeling uncomfortable.
That’s why, if you’re scared of orange, it’s best to start with a sheer and buildable lipstick shade, such as Miss Pupa in 402 Bikini. A soft orange with red undertones, it won’t make you feel as exposed as a bikini does. Even the shimmers (this stuff is chockfull of them) won’t make you stand out too much. Instead, Bikini has a lovely luminous wet finish that just screams summer.
One layer gives a sheer colour payoff that’s perfect for daytime activities, including an afternoon at the seaside. Bikini is a great shade for women who want to look glamourous at the beach too. If you want a more intense look for night-time, you can easily build it up. But don’t expect anything too bright and in-your-face. No matter how much you apply, Bikini always remains a newbies-friendly shade.
Miss Pupa in Bikini feels very comfortable on the lips. The smooth texture is easy to apply and keeps my lips soft and moisturized for a couple of hours, even if I don’t apply lip balm beforehand. After that, the lipstick starts to fade a bit, but it takes another hour and a half before it disappears completely. Unless you eat or drink. Miss Pupa doesn’t like that, and will abandon you sooner if you do.
The lipstick is housed in a simple silver tube. I like how sleek and elegant it looks. It’s not the kind of tube you’d be afraid to take out in public when you need to retouch your lippie. But there’s something I really hate about it. The tube is completely identical for all the 30 shades available so, if you own more than one, you’ll have to check its bottom to find the shade you’re looking for. Not very practical, is it?
