I forgot to stand in line when they were dishing out patience. I have none. Zero. Zilch.
My nail polish often smudges cos I can’t keep my hands still for the ten minutes it takes to dry. I buy my biscuits, cos baking them just takes way too long. And I always look for spoilers to see if a show’s worth it or not. Why would you want to wait till the end to discover if it’s a load of crap?
But when it comes to mascara, or better mascara smudges, being patient pays off.
I learned that the hard way. You know when you finish your eye makeup, and then put on mascara, but some of it ends up on your lid, rather than your lashes? Happens to me often. Like. All. The Time.
I didn’t just forget to queue for patience. I wasn’t in line for dexterity either. That’s why, after I mess up my eye makeup with mascara, I make an even bigger mess when I try to remove it! At least, I did.
Back when I was using a Q-tip soaked in makeup remover. The tip’s too big, and removes lots of eyeshadow together with the excess mascara, so then I have to start over again. Then you wonder why I start applying makeup 2 hours before I leave the house… (ok, maybe not 2 hours before, but I like to start early, you never know).
Well, to cut it short, it worked, but it was more trouble than it was worth it. Then, a few years ago, I read somewhere you don’t need makeup remover at all. Just a Q-tip, and a little patience.
The trick is to let the mascara dry and then gently lift it off with a Q-tip. I was sceptical. More of my ability to wait than anything else. I’m no good at that. But I gave it a go anyway.
It was agony. The mascara took
a few seconds ages to dry. But I managed to do it (felt very proud of myself!), and you know what? It worked like a charm! The smudge was off, and my eye makeup still on, perfectly intact.
A bit of discomfort is worth the reward sometimes. Now, if I could only keep my hands still after a manicure… Does anyone know how to do that?
How do you remove mascara smudges?
