Name: Lip4 in Ballet

From the press release:

What I liked:

– all the shades, except Swan Lake, are very pigmented
– easy to apply
– good staying power
– the price
What I didn’t like:
– Tutu, the glossy shade, bleeds a little
– Swan Lake, the matte shade, isn’t very pigmented
– although creamy, the texture isn’t moisturizing
Sleek Makeup has just launched Lip4, a new lip palette available in six variants, each of which features four pigmented lip shades in glossy, matte and satin finishes. Last week, I showed you Tease, a palette for lovers of red lips. But what if such bold colours scare you? Fret not. For those of you who prefer natural, muted and easily wearable shades, there’s Ballet.
Let’s start by describing the shades, shall we? Tutu is a glossy peachy brown; Plié, a warm reddish brown with a satin finish; Swan Lake is a light and soft nude shade with a matte finish; while Pirouette, my favourite colour in the palette, is a rose pink.
Tutu, the glossy shade, has a very creamy texture that reminds me of that of the Lip Tars. Highly pigmented, a tiny little bit goes a looooong way. However, it is also the only shade in Ballet prone to bleeding. Swan Lake, instead, is the least pigmented shade in the palette, and the one with the denser texture. Once you’ve build it up though, it looks lovely on the lips. As for the satin shades, they have great colour payoff and a creamy texture that’s very easy to work with.
The shades in this palette aren’t as longlasting as those in Tease. They last about four hours on me and, while they can survive a light snack, they will disappear if you have a proper meal. However, because the shades didn’t last so long, I also found them considerably less drying then those in Tease. Although not moisturizing, they didn’t feel uncomfortable nor drying on the lips. But I’d still advise you to apply a thin layer of lip balm underneath.
Overall, I think Ballet is a great palette for all fans of nude lips. The shades all have good colour payoff and impressive staying power. The palette also contains a mirror and a brush to make application on-the-go easier. The brush isn’t very good, though. It’ll do in a pinch, but if you can, use your own lip brush.
Available at: sleekmakeup.com and Superdrug stores throughout the UK
Sleek Makeup Lip4 in Ballet contains four creamy neutral and muted shades in glossy, satin and matte finishes. All the shades, with the exception of the matte Swan Lake, are very pigmented. The glossy shade, Tutu, instead, has the tendency to bleed a little. In addition, all the shades are longlasting, but not moisturizing.
