Name: I-Divine Sparkle 2 Eyeshadow Palette
Brand: Sleek Makeup
From the press release:
Sleek MakeUP’s limited edition Christmas palette Sparkle 2 is the shiny new sequel to its sister Sparkle i-Divine, and promises to be this Christmas’s ultimate party palette, leaving lids twinkling with glitter against a wash of rich, velvety colour that pops on all skin tones.
What I liked:
– it features a nice mix of bright and dark festive shades
– all the shades, and especially the metallic ones, have good colour payoff and are easy to blend
– the metallic shades have a lovely velvety soft texture
– glitters are fine and will make your eyes sparkling without being over-the-top
– good staying power
– sleek and sparkling packaging; palette comes with a big handy mirror
What I didn’t like:
– if you don’t like glitter eyeshadows, this palette is not for you
– the palette features 7 shades that were included in the first Sparkle palette
– the glittery matte shades have a dry texture and are less pigmented than the metallic ones
– the glittery shades are prone to fallout
The holiday season offers plenty of excuses to whip out the glitter and create some dazzling and sparkling looks that won’t make you go unnoticed. Sleek Makeup knows this and, just in time for the holidays, has released a palette chockfull of festive and glittery shades. This Christmas’s ultimate party palette, Sparkle 2 is the sequel to its sister Sparkle, which was released a couple of years ago.
Sparkle 2 is a similar, but improved, version of Sparkle. It features seven shades that were included in the original palette, which is a good thing if, like me, you missed out on it. If you own the first palette, though, there is not really much point in getting this one as well. Although, from the reviews I’ve read, the quality of the eyeshadows in Sparkle 2 seems to have improved, so if the original palette disappointed you, here’s your chance to own a better, easier-to-use version of it.
I also think that Sparkle 2 features a better shade selection than its sister. There are no impossible-to-pull-off red shades here, but just a festive mix of dark and bright hues which may seem a bit random at first sight, but actually complement one another very well. Four of them have a lovely metallic finish, while the rest of the shades have an intriguing glittery matte formula:
Chocolate Penny: a metallic golden copper shade that’s pretty much the colour of a shiny new penny
Blue Spruce: a matte deep turquoise blue that leans green and is infused with silver glitters
Mulled wine: matte cranberry with gold glitters
Truffle: a deep chocolate brown with a metallic finish
Mistletoe: a matte dark green with silver glitters
Illusion: a matte deep purple with silver glitters
Festive: medium and bright plum matte with silver glitters
Gold Ribbon: metallic yellowish gold
Glitz & Glamour: matte charcoal grey with silver glitters
Tinsel: metallic silver
Twinkle: dark navy blue with a matte finish and silver glitters
Starry Night: matte black with silver glitters
The metallic shades are amazing: intensely pigmented, with a velvety soft texture that is very easy to blend and no fallout whatsoever. The glittery matte shades (with the exception of Festive) instead have a dry texture that’s nonetheless easily blendable. Pigmentation is good, although not as good as those of the four metallic colours, and they translate better on the skin when applied with a brush instead than with a finger (I used my fingers to swatch them).
Like most glittery shades, these too are prone to fallout, so I would recommend you do your eyes first. That way, you can easily clean up the mess without ruining the rest of your makeup. Applying them over a sticky base also helps to minimize fallout. The glitters are also very fine, making your eyes sparkle and dazzle without resembling two disco balls. Despite its shortcomings, I think Sparkle 2 is great value for money. If you’re a fan of glitter eyeshadows and on the lookout for a festive, sparkling palette, this one won’t disappoint.
Sleek Makeup I-Divine Sparkle 2 Eyeshadow Palette is a festive holiday palette that contains four metallic and eight glittery matte eyeshadows. All the shades are easy to blend but, while the metallic colours have a very pigmented and velvety soft texture, the glittery matte hues (with the exception of Festive) have a dry formula with a less intense (but by no means sheer) colour payoff that’s prone to fallout.
