Name: Lasting Illusion Satin Matte Foundation
From Senna’s website:
This luxurious, long lasting fluid foundation gives skin perfecting and 16 hour flawless coverage with a whisper smooth feel. The modern satin matte finish captures and reflects light from fine lines and wrinkles for an exceptionally youthful appearance. It erases imperfections, won’t settle into lines, and looks seamless on the skin. Works beautifully for all ages and skin types.
What I liked:
– beautiful satin matte finish, looks very natural on
– medium coverage, evens out skintone and hides minor imperfection
– temporarily reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
– when applied with a sponge or fingers, it gives skin a smooth and flawless look
– lightweight creamy texture
– good staying power
– bottle is both cute and functional
What I didn’t like:
– not many shades available
– streaky when applied with a brush
– if you’re looking for a full coverage foundation, this isn’t for you.
Can a foundation be both satin and matte? It seems a contradiction, but that’s just the finish Senna Lasting Illusion Satin Matte Foundation gives your skin. To be accurate, the finish is mostly matte, but its ability to reflect light gives your skin a subtle sheen that prevents it from looking dull. It just captures the best of both worlds.
The foundation provides medium coverage that evens out the skintone and covers minor blemishes and imperfections. You can build it up, but if you have very dark circles or pimples, you would need the help of a concealer to hide them. This foundation alone won’t do it.
The texture is creamier, and less runny, than that of most liquid foundations on the market. Maybe that’s why it’s tricky to apply it with a brush. I tried using it with both a stippling brush and a regular foundation brush, but it always left a few streaks on my face, which I had to smooth out with a sponge. For best results, you should apply it directly with a sponge or with your fingers.
Once applied, though, it looks really natural on the skin. It doesn’t settle into fine lines and, because of its ability to capture and reflect light, it also makes wrinkles look smaller. And you don’t have to worry about it fading throughout the day. If your skin is oily, it may start to get shiny after a few hours, but the colour itself remains put for more than 12.
The foundation comes in only seven shades, ranging from Alabaster (the lightest) to Chestnut (the darker), so not everyone will be able to find a good match. The shade I tried was Alabaster, which was only slightly darker than my skintone, but the difference was barely noticeable. I wish Senna expanded the range of shades available, as this is truly a great foundation and it’d be a shame if some people weren’t able to use it because they can’t find a shade that suits their skintone.
Finally, a note on the packaging. How adorable is it? The rounded glass bottle is not just pretty to look at, but it is also practical. It fits comfortably into the palm of your hand, and comes with a pump applicator that keeps the product sanitary while releasing only the small amount you need for each application, making the foundation last longer. And at this price point, you certainly don’t want it to run out any sooner than necessary!

Senna Lasting Illusion Satin Matte Foundation provides medium coverage that evens out the skintone and covers minor imperfections (but not zits or very dark circles) and a satin matte finish that reflects light, making wrinkles appear smaller, and preventing skin from looking dull. It’s very longlasting, but needs to be applied with a sponge or fingers to avoid streaks.
