Name: Beyond Natural Defining Eye Pencil in Brown
From Revlon’s website:
Wider width pencil creates easily blendable lines of soft color for natural definition.
What I liked:
– nice soft color
– creamy texture, glides on smoothly without tugging
– works well as an eyeshadow base too
– the packaging
– the price
What I didn’t like:
– if you want an intense brown eyeliner, this is not for you
-doesn’t last all day even with a primer
I love cute chubby eyeliner pencils so I was delighted when my friend Dao of My Makeup Blog sent me Revlon Beyond Natural Defining Eye Pencil (thanks hun!). Doesn’t it look adorable? The eyeliner is available in six shade and the one I have is 04 Brown.
Brown is a reddish brown that’s pigmented but soft: while you get an opaque line with just one swipe, the color is delicate and soft and will define your eyes in a subtle, natural way. If you, instead, want the color to be intense, then you’ll have to apply 2 or 3 coats to achieve that result (or just buy something else instead).
But personally, one coat works very well for me on those days when I don’t wear a lot of makeup and just wanna look polished. I also love the texture: it is very creamy, gliding smoothly along the lid without tugging and is easy to smudge for a more natural effect. Sometimes, I also like to apply it on my waterline and it doesn’t irritate my eyes.
My only gripe with this pencil is that it doesn’t last that long. After a few hours of wear, most of it has faded away. Of course, having slightly oily lids that’s a problem I often have with eyeliners so I usually use them on top of primer. That significantly improved the staying power of this pencil. With a base, it lasted for most of the day and started to fade around dinner time.
Not bad for me but if your lids are oilier than mine, this may last less on you, requiring a touch-up or two throughout the day, so this is something to consider before purchasing. However, to me, it makes up for that by doubling up as an eyeshadow base to make natural looks pop more. Still, even if you’re using it as a base, remember to apply it on top of a primer to make sure your makeup will stay put.
